AER Memories of Old from the Sweden based Team over at Forgotten Key is hands down one of those bright precious things that you will come around on Steam and enjoy playing from the first moment till the very last.

The Art Style can only be described as superb, the music from the amazing talented Cajsa Larsson is pushing the limits of what you can describe as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, she nailed it so hard, I wanna drown myself in those notes and never put my headphones down and the Core Gameplay Mechanics will even make some of those overrated Nintendo Games look outdated that have some similar Gameplay Parts if you compare it to AER Memories of Old.


I do not want to spoil too much about the Story of AER Memories of Old but only want to make sure that you are aware of that this is not a Game that will hold you by your hands and tell you where to go exactly the next moment.

Instead it will point you into a direction and then it`s up to you to find out on your own where to go next. Some might not like such a Gameplay but on the other hand AER Memories of Old is doing it in such a way that I still never felt lost or left in the dark and more or less always knew where I should go next after I had familiarizing myself with the major places in the game.

Exploring is a big part of the Game and many times you will go deep down some old ruins in the Game and realize in the long term that instead of rushing to the next exit you are actually taking your time to encounter as much of this world as you can since some of the places in the Game are just plain and simple what could be described as beautiful even on the first look they might seem to be very unwelcoming but the more time you spent in those ruins they become more and more relaxing and familiar.


A Game like AER Memories of Old will either fail or win everyone over if the core gameplay mechanics are working in the Game without any major hassle.

The Team back in Sweden went out of themselfs to make sure that the transition from Aer to her flying form is as fluent as possible and I can only tell you that it never gets old or boring doesn't matter how often you switch between her different forms.

It`s so fluent you will do it even mid-air and do some skydiving where you will only in the last moment switch back into Aer flying form and watch Aer storm through the landscapes.

If I could I would give AER Memories of Old two thumbs up on Steam but sadly this is not an option so I will leave it with one of the strongest thumbs up ratings I have given ever for a Game out.

Forgotten Key has managed to catch my attention in an blink of an eye a couple of years ago when they showed the first proof of concept for the Game at some event I have forgotten what it was called and when it did hit the Steam storeshelf last year I have never seen me so fast rushing home and smashing that buy button.

I just love the lore in the Game, I enjoy the Gameplay and I can`t praise the music from Cajsa Larsson enough. If you are looking for an short (around three up to five hours of Gameplay if you take your time with the Game) but enjoyable gaming experience do not look further.

Considering that the Game does not waste too much time with telling you where to go or what to do next and instead is giving you more or less slightly hints where you might find your next task at I am really suprised that even a blind mole like myself had not really any major issues with playing through the Game without much backtracking or feeling lost more then once through my playthrough.

In the end it really does not matter. If you have watched the Trailer here on the Store Page or the first Part of my Walkthrough of the Game on YouTube and got interested into the Game you should not waste any more time: Go and get the Demo and give it a try, I'm sure you won`t regret it.
