A game that appears to be simple and friendly but turns out to be a harsh, and complicated game with lots of depth and tricks to learn. The gameplay consists of you managing a colony of duplicants on an asteroid and helping them survive by managing food, oxygen, heat and your own duplicant's self-destructive behaviour with the endgame goal of having a sustainable colony that can travel through space.

Klei has continued to make bug fixes and updates to gameplay and with the upcoming "spaced out" DLC (written as of 29/11/2020) Klei is going to provide players with a new experience that makes space travel a mid-game part of gameplay, having players being able to manage multiple colonies on different asteroids that can supply each other exclusive resources along with the addition of radiation, new critters, plants and areas with new resources on the asteroids.

Aspects of this game has been compared by other players to games such as Factorio with its production automation and resource management and Rimworld with some of its colony survival aspects.
And you can expect this game to have bug fixes. performance optimisations and gameplay updates for a long time as Klei has a history of providing support to their games long after their fame or release (Don't starve together is an example of such a game).
