Difficultly and challenge are two very different things, though it can be hard to properly write out the ways they differ. I see challenge as having to do with the craftsmanship of the game, and find it to be fair and fun to overcome the obstacles in a well designed, challenging game. Difficultly can be more frustrating and sometimes unfair. All of that to say that Elden Ring is a fantastically crafted, challenging game, and easily in my top 5 games of all time. A beautiful world, fantastically cinematic bosses, and a challenge that generates an unrivaled feeling of satisfaction help make this game unforgettable. It may not be the game for everyone, and I've had some moments of frustration myself, but it's challenge makes me feel both alive and unstoppable.
