Early Access Review
When looking at this game from a horror game standpoint, I must say that it's god ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lacking and the skinstealer has something shiny on the back of his right foot. It looks like a piece of toilet paper stuck there after he took a ♥♥♥♥ (he's naked).

TL;DR: The game feels like a Garry's Mod horror map and the enemy AI and general audio needs a deep design devamp. Fun with friends if you like horror games, though. Still, play Apeirophobia for free on Roblox or buy Lethal Company or The Classrooms (solo only), instead.

I wouldn't say this game is "scary" per se, but rather uncanny. I don't think this was the point of the game, but using free assets and animations does not help.

For example The Skinstealer, the enemy you'll most likely encounter the most, walks like a thug and runs like a gorilla, it's more funny than scary after a few times. The scary part about him is that he can look like a player before he gets close to you, giving you the sense of it being your friend when you're trying to find each other after splitting up.

That is still far from even "good", I'd say, as when the skinstealer approaches you in its player form, it just rushes towards you and when he's near enough (but still not close enough to reveal his true form) he plays some random voiceline in English like "Excuse me."

This would work if the game had any sort of NPCs that would give you objectives, for example, as it would deceive you into thinking it's someone who needs help or wants to help. Instead, you're surprised the first time and the other you know to just run away when there's some mf running towards you in a straight line, because you KNOW it's the skinstealer. It would be nice if the skinstealer listened to what was said in the voicechat, chose one player it's going to impersonate, and played lines of what the player said in the voicechat at random times, similar to the Skinwalker mod in Lethal Company.

I'd also be glad if Fancy added some sort of "creeping up to the player" feature for the enemies, because so far I can tell they spawn on a single spot and wonder around their home point where they always return after stopping chasing someone (seen in Level 1 - Floor 2 of the underground parking lot). In the better case, they wonder the entire map, but even that seemed to happen only in level 5 (The Terror Hotel) which took us around 5 or 6 hours to get to.

The hounds don't do anything either, as you just need to keep pointing your flashlight at them, wait till they get stunned three times, and then they run away and sometimes despawn (???).

The last thing I wanna talk about is the audio design. This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game has little to no horror ambient sound at all. This "horror" game is missing the most important thing a horror game requires for its atmosphere. All I can usually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hear is the screaming of monsters tearing my friends apart or some random ass generic "loud" silence ambient mp3 that you can hear cut when it loops 💀. I would more than welcome random screams in the distance, metal screeching, noisy pipes, breathing behind you etc. Just ♥♥♥♥ that would make the hair on your back stand up just by exploring the environment.

I guess I got a little carried away, but well... To wrap this long essay up, it's fun with friends, but more uncanny than "scary". Most likely due to the backrooms theme and the fact that it mostly gets scary when it's dark around for obvious reasons. Visually, the game is okay, but would be more appealling weren't it for the goofy free animations, that I see in every other game, used.

It's fun with friends and there's A LOT of content, so that's why I recommend it even after all the critique. It's nice for you to know there are better - and even free - alternatives, as I said in the TL;DR above, though.

Hope Fancy fixes this goofy ahh game.
