I watched my friends play this game when it was pretty new, over a Discord VC livestream, literally burying my face in a pillow (I wasn’t strong on horror games back then XD *still not haha*). A while later I met someone through another game and they offered to buy Phasmophobia for me so I could play with him and join my other friends. I told him I couldn’t accept, it was too generous of an offer, but I was persuaded in the end!

ANYWAY I’m going on a tangent!

This game is very fun to play! You and up to 3 other players are professional ghost hunters who can explore a variety of different locations at different difficulty options and settings, each giving a unique thrilling experience!

Currently there are 5 difficulty options; Ameteur, Intermediate, Professional, Nightmare and Custom. Beginners can start off with the amateur level, learning how the mechanics work and earning some money in the process. You get a longer grace period before the game becomes more intense. Giving you more time to explore your surroundings and learn how the equipment works. Of course the higher difficulty you play, the less time and more aggressive the ghost will be in the round.

There is a massive range of equipment that you can use in the game, from flashlights to see, to Spirit boxes to be able to communicate with the ghost! You don’t necessarily need all of the equipment, but the more you have, the more evidence you’ll be able to get! I will admit I’m not keen on the new layout of the screen for buying and adding equipment. I love that there’s now images instead of lots of writing, but I find the ‘/’ for the equipment confusing, I can’t tell how much I’ve added or how many I’ve got unless I swap screens and experiment XD However, people might find it easy to navigate, its up to everyone’s preference!

In the normal game modes, there is one cursed object hidden in the round, maybe you can find a Ouiga board, a haunted mirror or some tarot cards, and there's more too! They each do something different and may help or hurt you during your ghost hunting experience! Use them at your own risk, but they’re fun to mess about with, make sure to take a photo of it first!

There are loads of different ghost types in the game, you can look at your ghost hunting journal to see all the different ghosts you could potentially come across. The cool thing is; they all have different personalities and abilities. The journal can give you some background information about the ghost and a strength and weakness for each one too, which may help you figure out who is haunting the map even faster!

When looking for a ghost, you are generally looking for the coldest room or area on the map, you may want to use a thermometer to find the coldest room, but it might also help you find a type of evidence!

As there are lots of ghost types. There is loads of different types of evidence that you could possibly gather to determine the ghost. Each ghost needs three pieces of evidence; which you can find in your journal. The journal now has a feature where you can circle around evidence you know you definitely have and by clicking evidence twice you can cross it off if you know you definitely don’t have it! After you get all three pieces, you’ll know who you’re dealing with!

While searching for evidence, the ghost may get annoyed with you, if you say it’s name too much or linger in the dark too long, you may start to hear some paranormal noises, now it may be a ghost event where you can see the ghost, but it can;’t hurt you, or it may be a hunt, the doors to the map will be locked and you must hide as quick as you can. The higher the difficulty the less places there are to hide.

Overall the game is a fun experience and lots of fun to stream and play with friends. I've had a lot of fun and it has helped introduce me to horror games! The death screen is not very jumpscare-like so no worries about that! Nearly every game is different and can have a different outcome!

Happy Ghost hunting!

If you like Phasmophobia, you’ll like Forewarned!

I understand that their concepts may be similar; go into a location, find evidence and escape without dying. However, after playing both, they both definitely give me a different experience while playing!

In Forewarned, on your own or in a group up to 4 players as archaeologists, are tasked with exploring ruins of Ancient Egypt, discovering evidence, completing objectives, gathering lore pages, rare artefacts, treasures. While looking around you may hear some scary noises or discover creepy phenomena. You can use multiple pieces of equipment to discover what type of Mejai you’re dealing with, as you tick them off, you get closer to discovering which spiritual Mejai is lurking in the underground tomb with you. Equipment can be upgraded with coins that you escape with, save up your coins to level up your items for better quality, and are sure to help you more during your quests.

From this point on, I’m going to talk about gameplay, for those who may want a bit of a ‘step-by-step’ guide to read to help consider their purchase. (Apologies in advance, I’m not the best at explaining things XD)

While in the discovery phase, this Mejai can’t hurt you, as they are in their spiritual form, giving you some leeway and you freely explore the underground. But be careful of the Mejai’s guards called Zealots, they may try to sneak up on you for a surprise!

When you or you as a team have discovered who the Mejai is, you can make your way to the Mejai door and press the button to confirm your decision, whether you get it right or wrong will admit your entry into the sealed tomb room where the Mejai rests. If you guess correctly, you can claim the relic within. If not, well, beware the floor below you. Pressing the button will disturb the Mejai, and it will manifest into its physical form, it’s not as easy as running back up the stairs and escaping with your life, you or one of your teammates needs to find a blue leaver; which will spawn somewhere in the map, you must find it before the Mejai reaches you, after pulling the ever, you have a choice; you can escape up the stairs and leave to go back to the lobby, or, you can choose to enter a closed gate that will open upon pulling the blue lever.

If you’ve managed to grab all 4 canopic jars, hidden in chests, the relic from inside the tomb, and the piece from the puzzle minigame you must play once you descend the stairs, once you’ve acquired the items, you can proceed through the light to a new room, placing all of the objects on the altar, and lighting the candles, you’ll begin the banishment process; protect the altar! You must work to protect it from whatever threat may be coming, if you succeed, you’ll successfully banish the Majai and are able to escape!

Please take into consideration that this game is still in development, which means they are working really hard to improve their game as much as they can! Bringing out new updates, patches, bug fixes and more! This game helped me to talk to people on their Discord server and build confidence talking and playing with people I’d never met. It's also fun to play with a friend group, but one thing’s for sure, you won't see me playing alone! XD

Happy Mejai hunting!

⭐All I can say is ‘Wow’.

Spiritfarer is a really wholesome game about caring for your spiritual animal friends, helping them with their final requests before they pass on to the afterlife. It’s a bit like Animal Crossing Terraria, both games I enjoy and also Stardew Valley (which I’m yet to play). You follow a cute little story, you build your own boat and you get to place your building and houses wherever you like with an upgrade system. Exploring a map filled with many different places to visit and new characters to meet along the way!

As someone who likes wholesome games and a cute cartoon style, this game is perfect for me! I was nervous about controls, it looked like there was a lot to learn, but surprisingly, the controls were really easy to pick up!

I bought this game to help me cope with the process of grieving, I didn’t know a couple of months after buying it I would lose my pet rabbit. I was absolutely heartbroken, I grew up with him through my teenage years and to lose him; I felt so lost and lonely. I knew what I had to do, I picked up this game and started to play; games are distracting for me so it took my mind off while I was caring for my spiritual friends, and when it was time to say goodbye to my first character, I sobbed on stream! Playing the game has been an absolute comfort for me! I have yet to finish the game as well, I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

Of course, grief affects everyone in different ways, for me, I even get sad over fictional characters passing (I’m very attached to fiction XD) so every time a character departs, I’m shedding a tear or bawling my tears into a pillow, but I’m grateful the game makes me feel, it’s nice and also comforting to let it out!

This game may not be for everyone, but if you’re someone like me who thinks too much about losing someone, this game might be nice to play when you’re feeling down or just need some comfort in your life!

Thank you for reading! Happy sailing! ⭐
