It's alright, I guess. The power curve of zombies is a little grating because of the awful point system that pigeonholes you into using shotguns & explosives and the maps are a little uninspired but besides that I'd give it a solid C+

Talking specifically about Zombies, even for £20 on sale this game is just lacklustre. I do my best to avoid sensationalised reviews but I'd be lying if I said I don't understand the hate this game received. I love Zombies and up to this point have been able to find at least a dozen positive things in every entry, including IW and SHG entries but Treyarch really missed the mark on this one, moreso than any previous attempt at zombies. The only redeeming factor is the art direction, but it's not enough to salvage a piss poor gameplay loop. I'm immensely disappointed Cold War was left with only four maps in exchange for this. Avoid this game regardless of price.

For years I've resented this game for feeling too bloated and poorly optimised. It's only now, seven years later, that I'm finally beginning to warm up to this sequel. While I feel the visuals & story are lacking in comparison to the original title, it's undeniable how dense the gameplay of this campaign is. I've found myself doing 3 runs back-to-back! First on normal difficulty, then New Game+ Very Hard, and just recently an iron mode Very Hard run (essentially perma death) which ended with me getting one hit on mission 5. The mission variety is certainly more of a mixed bag than D1, but at D2's peak you have one of the greatest video games of the eighth generation. Bravo Arkane, here's to (hopefully) another fantastic sequel down the line. 8/10

For a free mod this is a fantastic package, although there's still a lot of room for improvement.

In the future updates I hope to see the following.
. Having weapons holstered on body as an option
. Being able to shoot with the same controller that I walk/run with
. Being able to dual wield (cmon, just lemme do it!!!)
. Improved ladder mechanics
. Default slower walking speed
. Better explained tutorial on reload mechanics
. Ability to use teleport movement (ala Alyx)
. Weight to objects

Of course, none of these are essential changes, just simple suggestions to improve the overall experience.
