First time around, this game was the love of my life, but that was 15 years ago. Now, coming back to it, how does it hold up? It is fabulous still. I got it on sale for £2.09 and it has already brought me lots of joy. You need to remap the controller so that targetting slips onto the right bumper and there are a couple of small things that don't quite gel from the original console game but nothing that would spoil the enjoyment. What made this game a classic, possibly my favourite game of all time (or at least vying with Black Flag) was the balance to it. The missions were difficult but doable, the hidden packages had a point to collecting them (free weapons at safehouses and a cash bonus for all 100), some of the side missions gave bonuses that helped in the game and it did not get too bogged down in detail like some of the later GTA games.

If you have never played it before (where have you been?) then I recommend getting this one and you will soon forget that the graphics are not sharp and up to date as the immersive 80s culture grips you. The plot is solid and the characters are iconic. Look out for the little dashes of humour in the names on the side of vans and shops.

I have tried to like this game. I was drawn to it as the idea seemed to have some charm but the controls are pretty bad and the running sequence in chapter 3 is buggy. I lost all patience with this game a few times and really cant recommend it.

I remembered this fondly from years ago and frequently I would think about the mini-game blitzball, which was a joy none of the other Final Fantasy incarnations had reached. When I realised that the game had been remastered, I was apprehensive - what if my memory had been making it seem better? I shouldn't have worried - it is still fantastic. I am not even that deep into the game proper this time around, since the mini-game, which you can access from any save point, is worth the full price of the game on its own. Blitzball is basically like underwater soccer/volleyball where your team develops over leagues and cups and you can recruit players to fit the needs of your team.

If you are going to get any of the FF titles then get this one. The basic game has all the elements you could want from a RPG and has plenty to offer on its own.

Got this game a little while ago on sale but without a controller at the time I did not fully appreciate it. I have come back to it now and MAN, IT IS AWESOME. Charging into a group of orcs, parrying and executing and generally slaughtering them is fun but creeping up behind a column of them and stealth killing one at a time till detected is sublime. The combat is great, the free range exploration is brilliant and it is a world many of us love from the books and films.

If you are not a fan of Tolkien's world, get it anyway. It will not disappoint.

This is an enjoyable little karting game which I was delighted to get in a bundle on sale. Took a little adjustment for me, as I had not really played karting games before, just proper racing games so I was tending to go at speed into bends only to find myself out of control. I would not describe most of it as hard but it is certainly pleasant enough so if you can get it on sale or bundle then give it a try.

Don't let the floppy ears fool you - this bear is gangsta. He will pop your tires, throw firecrackers at you, squash you flat or make you spin off the road in a puddle of sauce.

This really is abysmal. The standard for chess played by a PC is pitiful. There are no features like in some other chess games that make it more interesting to compensate for the lack of the basics of any good chess program. I have been playing chess for nearly 40 years now and this sort of standard has no appeal whatsover.

Overly-complicated and not at all accessible. Cosmetically it looks great but trying to get to grips with the Loony Tunes combos is insane.

This is a nice little community management game. What I was particularly impressed by was that Bethesda, creators of some amazing mainstream games, did not see the need to ram in-game purchases down your throat, despite the game being in the free to play genre. There is a lot to collect and build, along with little adventures you can send your dwellers on.

I am still getting the hang of this but it is a nice variation on the classic platforming model. You use gravity wells to reach areas either by pulling or repelling you. Obviously it gets trickier as you go through but your grasp of how to do it should be developing at the same time. Given how cheap the game is, it is definitely worth trying.

I understand the criticisms of this game and yes, it is really short and easy but it's more than that - it's a worthwhile little experience. It has a really interesting feel to it, managing to capture the sensations of being in a space suit. Is it going to give hours of play and challenge? No. Is it something you will remember and feel better for having tried? I think so.
