I found this takes a few hours to warm to, like some other games of the genre. It is slow and clunky and is by no means a masterpiece. It does, however, have a good atmosphere. Who doesn't love Steampunk?

I think some of the achievements are just beyond me while some others are grinds (kill a million enemies for example, where you get no clue as to how close you are.)

It is worth the experience, overall but you will not see it compared favourably next to Soulstone Survivors, Army of Ruin or countless others.

Ultra-slick twin-stick shooter. Very hard.

Do what I did - play it on infinite lives and just savour the creativity of the design - enjoy the show basically. This is not like your typical bullet hell, it is a work of art. Well worth the full price.

Play this if you have played every other survivors game out there and have low expectations.

I waited for this to be released and was really excited about it, but...

Although the core ideas are good, it has some disappointing aspects. You can play a chess match against the AI (great!) but it picks a random chess set to use, messing up your pattern recognition.

Some of the puzzles are just a bit silly.

If you are a chess nut, though, its worth a work-out. I just wish they would fix the match display so you could both use the same piece set. And maybe fix the weekly challenge so it doesn't reset when you log out.

The basic game is probably as good as Slay the Spire and that is high praise but my review is changing from positive to negative.

But why? Surely not just the over-priced DLC?

No, I can live with those. They just imposed an unnecessary third-party launcher.

These things are blights on gaming and needless since we play through Steam anyway.

So I am voting with my review. If they change it back then so will I.

It is hard to describe this game without mentioning Crimsonland. Hordes of aliens, wild weaponry and zero plot. I love it. Just 50% of the way through the achievements but only the easy half, of course. What is to come is getting harder and harder but it is a fun journey.

Heck yes!

This has swiftly become my second favourite Survivors game, narrowly behind Soulstone.

There is just so much to unlock, from characters, weapons, trinkets, maps. The Ruin comes in the curse form and adds palpable flavour and difficulty. There are some achievements that might be beyond my aging skills but it is all fun and that is what matters, amirite?

Edit: 73 hours to 100% it but what a journey! Well worth the money.

Excellent game. Easy at the beginning, hard towards the end.

Reminds me most of Nordic Ashes in that you learn to glide between enemies rather than relying on butchering everything. Very expansive skill-tree that unlocks maps, abilities, pets.

27 bosses, 80 side challenges, 8 characters, 9 maps. Plenty of content.

Woken from cold sleep, shoved in a giant tin can and told to annihilate some alien lifeforms.

It is not a complicated brief but the more weapons and upgrades you acquire, the more this twin-stick shooter grows on you. At this point I have only beaten the first map but that then leads you to a "hyper" mode unlocking on that map. Yikes!

One tip I would give, maybe unnecessary, is to do the very short tutorial - it gives you 1500 credits to spend.

The mechs themselves vary from your "normal" giant robot to the Drake, which is basically a sinuously-moving dragon. Bless you, devs, this is a lot of fun. They unlock by spending your credits and you can have them all unlocked pretty quickly.

So far, I can't wait to get more and more weapon upgrades bought so my killing sprees can ramp up. The price point is fair - for once I didn't wait to get this on discount and thoroughly recommend it for some bullet heaven craziness. Be advised, though, this is a manual aim game. Having said that, sometimes you can just spin in a circle and watch everything die.

Edit: After 27 hours, game is complete but it leaves me a little sad. Definitely wanting more but it was quite a trip while it lasted.
