Early Access Review
The second King of rythmn games (IIDX being the first King) is back on PC with new features and songs. DJMax RESPECT was originally released for the PS4 and it finally made it's way to PC with the new RESPECT V version.

Featuring 164 songs (at the time of EA release) with about 160 of these songs having custom keynotes, meaning that the notes of the song only play if you hit them.

Sadly there's no Arcade mode since it has been replaced with the new AIR mode wich is quite honestly a mixed bag.

Overall there's content and songs for everyone, from classic music to dubstep, and with the Multiplayer mode coming this week. The Mission mode will be added at a later date and new songs and DLC's coming soon.

Dark Souls ReReleased or Dark Souls 60 fps patch is pretty much a more buggier version of the original game that somehow does nothing to improve compared to the original.

Dark Souls 1 is a patience based waiting around, linear and simplified JRPG with a stamina bar that reminds you of an ATB system.
Boring parts like Anor Londo remain boring and fun parts like Painted World remain fun. Other than that it's pretty much a rerelease with 60fps.

While Dark Souls 2 was more enjoyable thanks to it's adjustable difficulty and Dark Souls 3 was really fun to play, Dark Souls 1 is just a hard game that may or may not stop you from enjoying it's beautifull world, lore, setting, characters and others.

If you can't run the original game on your pc or never played the original, then get this one instead.

While reviewing this game, I'll divide it in two parts: the "OG version" and the "Ex+ version".

Short version: If you played any Ys game excluding Ys 1 and Ys 2, then you pretty much know what you're getting yourself into. If you haven't played an Ys game before then check that series out. Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ is an upgraded version of the original that adds some nice stuff and some bad stuff. Overally pretty fun and enjoyable.

Long version:
Tokyo Xanadu originally released on the PSVita , made by Falcom and it's a fun ARPG with fast paced combat mixed with a bit of Persona elements.

Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ is an upgraded version that adds new dungeons, bosses, characters, areas, features and more story. The story bit that it adds are in the form of new "side-stories" happening between each chapter and an extra chapter taking place after the story called "After Story".
I'll split the story review in two since I have mixed feeling about this extra chapter.

The game revolves around Kou, an average high-school guy that in typical JRPG faction learns about a "secret world" (that literally 50% of the characters in the game know about). It's now up to Kou and his group to put a stop to the threat that wants to destroy the world. Story wise it's pretty much what you would expect from any other JRPG: you learn about this threat, recruit new characters, complete certain dungeons and bosses and recruit new characters again, rinse and repeat.
The story in the Original game is kinda good: every chapter there's a problem and a background story taking shape that will be the main focus in the late game. Prologue, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are done with pretty quickly. The game only really "starts" in Chapter 3, since by then you'll unlock pretty much every gameplay element available to you, the map opens up and the combat starts getting a lot more smooth.
Most of the characters are enjoyable and likeable, with a few personal exceptions Shiori.
You will also see the city of Morimiya alive with it's citizens going trough certain events shown in their dialogues.
Although the story could have gone with some rewritting, it is quite enjoyable.

"After Story" however is just a mixed experience: The first part is really nice, the second one is "meh" at best, forcing certain characters into the struggle and wasting 2/3 hours on a "plot twist" that could be seen from miles away (looking at you kid in the mask ).

I feel like the main story ended nicely and wrapped Tokyo Xanadu well enough, however, the Ex+ version with the "After Story" added some questionable writing that just stops characters development and realationships, and although it redeems some weird moment in the original game, it also ruins other elements aswell.

Gameplay wise the game is really fun to play, with fast paced action where "blocking" is not allowed. If don't want to get hit, you better dodge. The combat can be a bit sluggish at first, and with the lack of playable characters, the early game really suffers from it. After a while though, the combat will start getting a lot better, with more moves, more characters to play with and more fluid.
You will be able to play with eight characters in the main story, each with their own playstyle and with two extra characters in the "After Story".
Outside of combat, you will be going around the city of Morimiya talking to people, doing quests, playing minigames or spending time with Kou's friends and companions. During this period "Free Time", you will be talking with people in the city or doing quests or playing minigames, if you want to however spend time with Kou's friends, you need to spend Affinity Shards, wich will limit the number of people you can spend time with.

There are various difficulty options to choose from and a variety of bosses to defeat. This being a Falcom game means that the game is meant to be played on higher difficulties for a more enjoyable and challenging experience. The bosses in this game are fantastic, and the enemies can be a bit tough to deal with. The dungeons are "same-y" looking wich can confuse some people but overall they are fun to complete.

Overall, in terms of gameplay, the "OG version" is really enjoyable... I can't say the same however with the "Ex+ version".
While the OG version had some repeated bosses and "same-y" dungeons, the Ex+ version added even more "same-y" dungeons with a set of repeated bosses that you've seen before. There are a total of three new themes for the Ex+ dungeons and there's about nine dungeons that use the same theme, making them a chore to play trough. The other theme is used twice and the third theme is used in the final "After Story" dungeon. The bosses are a big negative aswell: there's only one new boss and it's an absolute torture to play trough, not because it's hard, but because it's a long, annoying fight with enemies spawning all the time and attacks that can instatly kill you, plus you will need to fight against the camera aswell, making the last boss of "After Story" the worst one in the game. Flacom has some really hard but enjoyable final boss fights, and they showed that with the final boss and the true final boss of the main story, however the "After Story" final boss is just bad.

The game also doesn't really like being played with a mouse, as the gamera can freak ou some times, but overall it's really enjoyable playing this with a keyboard and mouse.

Overall, the Original Version is really enjoyable with some very fun gameplay elements and characters. Took me about 68 hours to complete the game with the True Ending while doing as much as possible in the game (completing every quest, talking with everyone, doing every little side stuff, and playing some mini-games).

The Ex+ version however is just annoying and a bit of a waste of time, takes about 4/6 hours to do everything and the final section was so bad that it almost made me want to switch sides in the "After Story" final boss. The only reason I played the "After Story" was just to get certain endings from certain characters, play with the two extra characters and unlock New Game+. To sum the "After Story" experience in one of the two sentences: either "a bit crap" or "Characters that died should stay dead."

Overall, Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ is a very fun ARPG with some nice moments, fun characters, typical Falcom gameplay and a total lack of fan service, wich is great.

I must say, I wasn't expecting this much fun from Danganronpa 2. I'm happy to say that it surpassed my expectations is almost every single way.

If you've never played a Danganronpa game before then you have two options: either play Danganronpa 1 first to avoid the maximum ammount of spoilers and have the story make more impact, or just play it while not having played the previous game.
While playing the previous game is not required, there are some spoilers realted to the first game since it happens after the events of the first game.

If you have played Danganronpa before then it doesn't really matter what i'm saying since you probably bought it already anyways.

Now for the actual game itself, Danganronpa 2 goes with a theme about forging the future and reaching your goals. The story aproaches this theme in a very subtle way in the initial chapters and develops it more and more in the later game. While the primary focus of the story and the game is the killing game that the cast has to go trough, the way they explore the theme is done quite well.

Danganronpa 2 also has in my opinion the best set of characters in the series, all unique and likeable, making it more interesting when you see a character that you probably liked showing up death at some point. This game won't (probably) spare your favourite characters and that's part of it's charm, making you decide wether or not you should spend your Free Time with a certain character. It's always interesting in finding out more about whoever you spend your Free Time with and also their motives for the actions that they did.

The ambience in this game is fantastic, the only negative point that it has is the side scrolling exploration on the island roads. It's not terrible but it does remove the player a bit from the immersion.

This game is also separated in four phases of gameplay:
- The first one is the story stuff, it plays like a typical VN where you go trough a certain ammount of story and exposition before moving on to the next bit of the game.
- The second one is the free exploration or Free Time, in wich you're completly free to explore any part of the islands that you've unlocked so far or spend time with certain member of the cast in order to deepen your relationship. This gives you Hope Fragments wich can then be used to buy skills for use in class trials. Obtaining five Hope Fragments with a certain character gives you access to a special skill (a bit like Persona 3/4/5 where you get buffs by doing Social Links). However, keep in mind that certain characters will die at some point in the game, making this task a bit more hard. You can also take these chances to raise and take care of your virtual pet, wich is a bit enjoyable to do and gives you skills and monocoins (the game's currency).
- The third phase of the gameplay is the Investigation bit. It plays like the exploration / Free Time, only this time you're gathering clues about the murder to find out "whodunnit". It's very linear but it does a great job of adding to the atmosphere and story, plus it basically says who the culprit is you're really paying attention and not overlooking anything.
- The fourth phase is the Class Trial, this is the phase that Danganronpa is probably more known for. The game completly changes: you will be doing a variety of minigames and doing some checks on what you've learned so far. Not only that but everything is fully voice acted in this bit to add even more to the ambience. The minigames are all quite fun to do and the dialogue is usually enjoyable. The only problem about the Class Trials is that sometimes it can a while to reach to conclusions of some pretty basic questions with even more basic answers.

As for the music, Danganronpa 2 shares most of the soundtrack from the first game, however that's a very positive point since it's absolutely amazing. Every music track just drowns you in the immersion and the setting and theres some nice variety in it. Every musice that you hear fits the situation that you're in.

Outside of the main game, there's two more gameplay modes in Danganronpa 2, the Monomi mode and the Island Mode.

- The Monomi mode is basically a top down minigame where you control Monomi and defeat enemies in waves by creating circles around them. After a certain ammount of waves, a boss will appear and you'll unlock the next stage (you also need to unlock the required chapter for that stage awell in the main story mode).

- Island mode is only available after you've beaten the game and its basically a "what if" in wich the killing never happen and you need to live peacefully and gather all of the Hope Fragments from the cast. This is also where the "dating sim" comes in, allowing you to view special events that were not shown in the main story.

There's an extra mode after you've beaten the game where a "what if" scenario of the first game is explored.

The only departmente where the game lacks a bit is in the UI, in wich certain minigames suffer because you can't view all the clues and arguments that you can use easily.

Overall Danganronpa 2 is a very solid experience with an enjoyable story, characters and music. It's a nice game to introduce someone to this series and it's a very worthy sucessor of the first one. Danganronpa V3 does some stuff better and improves a lot off stuff, but this DR2 is a cheaper option that can very well be used as an introduction to Danganronpa or as a improvement of DR1.

fun short top down shooter with level editor, some funny scenes and amusing voice over. some levels get harder thanks to the zoomed in view wich may change the overall experience to the worst.

reminds me of Hotline Miami series but with enough changes to make it stand out.

also its free

one of the most weird spinoff titles i've seen. weird but somewhat enjoyable thanks to it's dialogue

EDIT: extremely short and DLC characters "stories" are not worth.
