Listen.

I have played Runescape for almost 15 years at this point. I've experienced all the highs- and the lows. I gotta say, when Runescape introduced EOC in 2012 I wasn't playing too often. I had been so accustomed to how Old School was, you know, before EOC. I just didn't really care for it anymore and focused my time on other games. I came back a few years later..roughly in 2014-2015, a more mature individual with the concept of grinding and maxing- rather than playing for the social aspect/for fun. When you're young you don't really understand games that well and for me, maxing and being efficient when I played when I was younger did not matter. When I came back, I actually loved EOC. I thought it wasn't bad, and I really enjoyed playing it, I wondered why things were dying, why did a lot of the player base stop playing?

I believe the answer to be Micro-transactions (MTX). Promotional events are constant, and have only gotten worse over the years, Jagex does not listen to their fans regarding this, you will see Reddit threads of people complaining, it will get traction and there MIGHT be a mod that says something to re-assure you things will get better...but guess what? It doesn't. These promotions can be absolutely ludicrous sometimes and honestly, if you have money to filter into the game...you can max pretty quickly. I believe the fact that you can gain so much from paying in this game is probably why it is not doing better.

Even with that being said, Runescape is still a great game. One thing about Runescape that I absolutely love, is that questing is actually questing in this game, and you have so much lore to read through, and even whole quest lines that tie into each other. You aren't tied to one specific class. you level your skills and are free to alternate between Magic, Ranged and Melee styles. Hell- some bosses require you to hybrid these attack styles. The community can be good, out of all the gaming communities out there..I would say Runescape is incredibly welcoming and you can find great people on here. I find that Runescape really separates itself from other MMO's, at least in ways that matter to me. The only negative thing I can note is the RS3 vs OSRS community. It can be a bit dreadful at times seeing how they interact, when really...we are all on the same page here. To see Runescape survive.

I won't get too much into Old school but I can say it is a gem, and one to be cherished forever. It is the classic Runescape we all love and know. Pre EOC, and Pre MTX days.

Do I recommend this game? Yes. Absolutely. I love this game to death and want nothing but the best for it.
