This game's introduction cinematic is very ugly and badly animated. Which is strange because the rest of the game's animations are a lot better, so please stick past this introductory mess.
If you do, the great character acting and the motion captured faces will grab you straight from the start of the game and they don't let you go till the end.
VTMB really shines thanks to this great cinematic work. Where other games spend half of their time showing you that you are in a videogame and delivering the plot like they were talking to a 6 years old child, this game just rams your head with its great atmosphere and actors who seem to be revenants from a good 1990s TV show and delivers a good story without waiting for you.
Actually all this acting and atmosphere can become a bit tedious, some dialog sequences are feeling particularly long. The game is best played in small doses because of this. There is a lot of reading and listening to do.

The White Wolf universe is very well used and the scenario is interesting. I never really enjoyed the world of darkness franchise when it was all the rage among cringey emocels in the 90s, but now, with some distance, I can really enjoy this lore as a finely aged wine.

Now let's talk about the bad things: the gameplay is VERY basic. This is barely a RPG, more like an adventure game. And a very basic one, your character moves awkwardly and most of the fights consists in aiming at the floaty enemies and spamming the mouseclick. Yeah, we don't play this game for the gameplay. Most of the fights are either too easy or too hard.
Most of the "dungeons" consist of very basicly modelled, empty rooms connected by empty corridors and filled with enemies waiting for you at the corners. There are a few areas that shine because of a great theme or funny situation, but they are scarce and seem to be mostly at the beginning of the game.
Toward the endgame some of the dungeons pit you agains a lot of repetitive enemies and it can become quite tedious (I'm thinking about the kuei jin temple).
But all in all it's still a great game to play and the endings are worth it.
A real classic for the PC.

Don't forget to install the "unofficial patch" before playing because the base game is broken.
