Many people understand this game differently, but for me, it brings only good memories. Starting from first trailer of this game back in 2015, I was like - “Am i sleeping now? Killing floor 2, I can’t believe it!” I bought this game since “Incinerate’n’detonate” update. I played on different servers: regular and custom ones, with people of different gaming skills, personalities and mindsets. There were loses, wins, laughs, memes, lies, anger, fear and other things. This is pretty much the only game I play right now and I didn’t even get bored of it. And I don’t know any other game where I can get this cocktail of feelings, both good and bad ones. I agree that developers may did some bad things like adding versus mode in a pve type of game, adding an upgrade system, HRG, DLCs, etc. But, if you close your eyes and move everything bad aside, You can truly say that this game is masterpiece, one in its kind. And I should give special thanks and respect to the original mod creators of Killing Floor - Shatterline Production and Alex Quick, thank you very much for creating such an amazing mod that built a great community of fans and players together. They and Tripwire Interactive did a great job at creating it. Sounds, Professionaly done Mocap animations of characters, weapons, ZEDs, as well as map designs and many many more. As a huge fan of killing floor franchise, it will stay in my heart and warm my soul whenever I remember it, and only 2 words can describe it - “Thank you.”
2nd part of review (this is a strongly subjective part where author gives ideas of what future killing floor games could be, if you are not agree with the author’s opinion, describe your ideas, suggestions in polite manner, without using bad language and swearing, thank you):
What kind of next Killing Floor game can be? The main weakness of Killing Floor is a story and it should focused tremendously. In my opinion the story should begin from its characters, there is one event - ZED Outbreak in London. Rachel Clamely worked with her father Kevin Clamely in National labs as well as (not sure): Emma Rose, Ogada Buyu, Collin (Incursion), Gary Glover, Agent Wilkes and Thorne (possibly Hans Volter, Masterson, Schneider, Briar, Davin, Powers, Lewis). Rachel Clamely is the main character of the game, her goal is to stop her father from creating havoc and massacre on London streets as well as explaining her story of becoming Matriarch from her perspective. The atmosphere should be gritty and dark like in true survival horror game (like killing floor 1, it’s mod or F.E.A.R. - a good example of mixing both action and horror elements) game mechanics and gameplay will be based on the game series called “The Condemned” (a survival horror game with beat ‘em up elements from the creators of F.E.A.R.) and “Alone in the dark”: there won’t be much ammo for your guns, you can only bring 2 weapons at once (however, you will have a wide variety of melee weapons to use: from broken chairs, pipes to sledgehammers, fire axes and so on.,) and all your equipment will have durability, healing system will be taken from “Alone in the dark” (your medical syringe will still heal you to full, but you won’t be able to stop bleeding like that, in order to prevent bleeding, you will have to choose which body part you want to heal and apply a bandage), you will also have a special equipment that will allow Rachel to define zed species, their weaknesses, their strong sides and effective ways of dealing with them, this equipment will be important in latter levels, as it can help you to decide many puzzles and track Kevin’s traces. The game will be slow-paced, dark, claustrophobic, with interactive environment, and will focus on the environmental sounds effects to give feelings of fear and constant pressure to player. Furthermore, developers could make other stories about characters from Killing Floor 1 before and during outbreak.
