I'm in awe. I played the demo almost bored from the trailers (which I believe they don't convey the actual game AT ALL), and I was immediately hooked. The final game is even better; awesome music, fantastic asian culture and folklore, and engaging gameplay systems taking inspiration from several different genres. Will update the review after I'm finished the game.

The fact that this game is happening, that they even tried to do something original, is something to cherish as it's also really hard to do nowdays. We should all support and invest project like these! Thanks Capcom.

Too many bugs, monsters not getting stunned when they should, changes target suddenly nonsense, AI knows where you are even when you don't get noises. Nice concept but really poorly executed.

As a Steam Curator I must say: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will make you smile from beginning to end if you're a passionate Suikoden fan that understands that the two supports one another, rather than fight each other for the spot.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a miracle of a game that many wouldn't even hope to have in 2024. Its roots are very traditional and therefore are scattered in the overall project, for the better or worse. It is undeniabale that the Suikoden series serve as a major inspiration for this game, but while the two are very similar to one another, they are also very distinct.

While the duo of main protagonists look a lot like the duo of Suikoden 2 and have similar ideals, their dynamic is completely different from the very start and are completely thrown off when a third protagonist gets thrown in the mix, and that's where the game designs its base lines, putting the whole project on a different take of the Suikoden series while still tapping in when needed.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes features a fantastic turn-based 6 party members combat system with over 100+ characters to recruit and use in all the various sub systems that the game have to offer. The player will find themselves doing all bunch of different stuff with all different characters, ranging from serious tone like tactical war to really silly stuff like playing some kind of beyblade game.

While the game is all but perfect and could use more attention to detail, the ground is really stable and it makes me enthusiast for the future.

Lots of bugfix and quality of life additions are needed, and some balance changes like making Hard Mode harder and Normal Mode easier, but other than that, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has so much to offer that the player will feel immediately thrown in the world when playing.

About translation issues, it's not that big of a deal than most people make it, and most importantly is that R&B is aware because ultimately it's their choice. If R&B feels like the translation is fine, then that's their choice, and it means that everything translated is very well conveyed for worldwide to experience the story of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

100+ recruitable heroes to feel represented by, 6 party members battles, Headquarter system with various sub systems attached to it, lots of mini games, tactical wars, duels... Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes offers so much that you can find in many other games but NEVER together in one. If I only stop to think that incoming patches will make the whole experience even better...

I'm already waiting for a Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes 2, basically!

Lately the dev team decided to listen to the loud majority of players who complain the game is victim sided and they decided to nerf the role until it is now unplayable.

I can't trust developers who wants to balance the game towards complain instead of the healthy relationship between the game and a role.

Same people argue the game is supposed to be Family sided "because killers duh" and devs still decided to listen to these people who know nothing about game balancing.

I don't play Victims because I like to be slaughtered, I'm playing a GAME and a role that I LIKE, it has nothing do with my victory and defeat score.

Any argument that goes beyond 50% winrate doesn't have a place on online games.

Devs, do better.

As a Steam Curator and JRPG entusiast, I digest Turn-based RPGs for breakfast. I've been playing them since I have memories. I love them. After completing the game at 100% of all the achievements and content I can say Mobius Monochrome systems are extremely traditional and yet really fun, but the game has a big flaw: it's EXTREMELY easy, to the point that I am forced to NOT invest any points earned levelling up or I'll be able - and I'm not even joking - to oneshot bosses. I'm playing at Hard Mode, which is the hardest selectible one (easy and hard), and I just unlocked another system at chapter 5 which grants me even stronger weapons/armor and accessory if I have enough materials, which, of course, as I like to collect everything and finish my secondary missions before proceeding with the story, I had. Now I am also FORCED to not buy new equipment or I'll risk to break the game.

I'm not entirely sure how this level of unbalancing is possible, and how easy it's preventable creating multiple levels of difficulty, but gameplay-wise, Mobius Monochrome makes me wish there were reasons to actually invest my time into understanding the systems of the game, and actually play the game, by the time of this review I'm sad to say this big flaws almost make me quit playing.

Story wise isn't extraordinary but it's really anime-like and lightheaded, to my taste characters are its strongest card: they are likable, they have a development, they are multifaceted and most importantly interesting.

There's an abundant amount of dialogue which is expect from a game like this but it's disheartening to notice lots of them are useless or even missplaced. Most games are diveded equally alternating dialogues to gameplay, in this case things don't really have a pattern, by the time you're reading useless stuff after half hour of dialogue one understand somethings doesn't add up.

Same thing happen with exploration, the game is explained as a field exploration but there's so much vast of nothing with very little exploration, and, as the dialogue, when you think you have had enough before the next location, you're still at half the trail you're supposed to follow.

I hope things are addressed in other patches, as for now, I'll leave a negative review because after chapter 5 I'm nearly dropping it and I feel extremely sad because the game has really good potential.

TL;DR Decent story, likable characters, extremely easy and poorly balanced gameplay.

As a Steam Curator I can absolutely this game is a rare gem. Love the game. Love the music. Love the 90' aesthetic. Love the accessibility. Love the non existential marketing and how they released the game when they announced. Everything about this project is done in the best way possible and it needs to succeed to make sure other developers and companies understand that this is what we want and this is how you do it.

As a Steam Curator I must say: Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising presents itself with such ease, heartfelt, welcoming and light adventure that owns its charm completely. Suitable for both veterans who are fond of the genre and for newbies who never got involved with this project but are still curious to play it, in all its forms.

The whole experience is centered around its tale, finally introducing Eiyuden's world for the first time and its gorgeous artistic direction and wonderfully written characters. The game offers an Action RPG style game that winks at the metroidvania genre, with very simple Town Building mechanics, which leans further in being a cozy relaxing game, where basically all its charms naturally lands.

I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail: several times I stopped myself from going further to admire the beauty of the backgrounds and the strange but functional contrast between a cartoonish but semi-realistic environment and the Pixel Art of the characters.

It is really engaging and one will feel easily hooked to it, wanting to play some more.

The only downside aspect of it is that the Hard Mode is locked, forcing one to complete the game once to be able to play it, but there isn't really a reason to replay the game itself rather than the new difficulty. The community hopes it will be patched to be unlocked from the very first start of the game.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a fantastic light hearted prequel that sets the base of a world that will become more serious and definitely of higher quality in its twin sequel project that goes by the name of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Really excited to see where Eiyuden franchise and its world will evolve next!
