UPDATE: After playing for over a 50 hours I feel I can make a better assessment of this game, and I'm happy to say it's still the same. Yes, the game in places can be basic it's a small indie studio of 8 people, that's it working on the game and they are aware of many issues others have listed here, they get to them as they can but yes even I wish their response was quicker with fixes, but once again, 8 people, massive game.

I agree with the time gate nonsense as well, I do think some of those times are far too long 8 hours?.. I think they can work with reducing them to a point, I'd imagine it was a economy decision but it's more frustrating than anything when the population is currently low.

As for others that have spoken on the plot sizes, finding gold or the upkeep, not being able to find plots..that I'm totally lost on. You can make 2 grand by standard mob farming for all of 15 mins which is pretty standard for...any MMO. And you can deposit enough cash on your land to pay the rent for a month..not exactly something to worry about. And the review that said things waste away after you build them, yes, carts do waste away..when they're not on your property. As for not finding plots? Get off of Terra. Terra is packed to the gills right now because everyone ran to the PvE world thinking they would be forced into PvP on Syndesia when all rules are the same. Come to the other planet, we have entire fields of empty plots near active cities/towns.

I mainly wanted to update this review because I did not have many hours in the game at point of review and I noticed most of the recent negative reviews are either server location issues for connectivity or people complaining about issues in games they just don't understand to deal with easily.

It's an really great foundation and what they have is unique, close to ultima but like..a blunt force version. That's what they need to add to the world, it's lacking any "spirit" it that makes sense. Lore is convoluted, there's nothing to make you really care about the world's or lands you're on except the people you play with, but I feel like all these things will come in time. They have a great foundation here, I sincerely hope they keep building on it.

And you may hear a lot about an old PvP system they used to have that sounded a lot of fun, I think they jumped the gun taking the sledgehammer approach to it and could have kept it if they have gave people the option to opt in and out from being aggressive, but I digress.

ORIGINAL:
While still only day 1 I really enjoy this game and definitely get the old school MMO/RPG feel from it. Indeed it can be kinda grindy but that's also kinda the niche I feel they were looking for when compared to the tasks you can complete in game. Tutorial teaches you the very basics of the most core systems, but the player base is very helpful in answering questions. The entire games ecosystem is ran by the players, it's supposed to feel like a lived in/uniquely built digital world (Think early 2000s UO).

I'm hoping with them going f2p they attract the player base they need to grow the diamond in the rough they have here. They already have a great foundation for a base game and hopefully with a dedicated larger player base will only continue to grow it.

It would be very exciting/interesting to see these worlds transformed as they were intended.

A work of love through and through, I've never seen a game developed side by side with so much input taken direct from the intended community. That being said, this game will tick just about every box you could ask for in a quality arpg which was their goal, to find a balance with awesome replayability and I believe they've nailed it.

Closest, most traditionally faithful successor to original Bullfrog DK series. Was Created by fans for the fans. I'm also an original backer from its launch and its been really great to see the game grow into what it has and still be going all these years. Hope to see something in the future!
