Starbound.
Oh my this game has a lot to offer with such little space taken up.
This game brings you so much creativity to like different clothes, races, colors, hair styles, and even stances. All to be fair it's not a huge library for a specific style like for example hair which there is a lot yet but they limited you so that they can give you the creative freedom you want while also engaging you into the game quickly without getting lost with character design.
The creatures in this game is all beautiful and unique in their own ways but most act the same whether that is some creatures are attacked, they retaliate if they haven't started attacking you already or will die quickly because the tiny ones are just baby creatures which stand no chance against well anything. This did not go down in vein though as the developers generally made a great idea that you could use these creatures to your advantage in battle against a mighty gang of thieves who are terrorizing the local Floran settlement or using them as decorations for you new little cottage that you set in a barren wasteland planet.
This game has many mechanics to it on what you want to become in this game but does not dismiss the fact that you can continue your mission as a hero to save the universe. If you want to become a space trader, bang, space stations to trade at. A mercenary for people who are in need, bam, villages to help people. Want to build a crew inside your ship to be the biggest one ever seen in the universe only to turn your ship into a space traveling hotel while on your journey, POW, thats in there too! (Yes that is what you can do, I did it myself and let me tell you its beautiful when you max out your ship and fill it with citizens who need a place to stay). This game tells you that creativity is limited by only your imagination and provides you the resources around the universe to collect and make you dreams come to reality.
This game is also allows mods, meaning you can make literally anything happen! Mods are never on short supply and really if you have played the game fully and require a new fresh start, look into mods. Mods help freshen up the game a bit by adding new races, clothes, songs, equipment, missions, and way more, sometimes even doing all of the above (Looking at you Frackin universe). This also allows new opportunities with what you want to do in the game, making things so much more creative friendly to the player.
Did I mention you can also play online with friends? No? Well you can!
This game allows you and your friends to sit down, have a cup of tea, and play together as you save the universe from evil gangs terrorizing the innocents in worlds. You can also ride along with them in their ship if they want to role with only one ship which is alright but then you guys just have another ship sitting in space that is still broken down and your friends missions never to be completed unless you help him with that too so although you can beat the game with your friend, you have to help them constantly along the way to get their ship fully functioning so you can start your journey because don't and he will be left behind on the same mission (I learned this the hard way).
Lots of characters, engaging plot, mod friendly, online, creative, open world, and so many more factors makes this one hell of a game! They might of stopped updating it but if they ever add another update, I hope it's one of the finest updates they will release.
