I just countered the phantom forces by putting on twice as many thrusters and adding weird wing strakes.

I'm fine with you using some of my fleets for custom campaigns, however the new update is really buggy and I recommend you don't try to use any aircraft until angular drag calculations are fixed because they will just do backflips at ridiculously high speeds.
