I was given this game to me from a friend of mine and was super interested in it because I like the idea of just commanding a smaller unit in a big army, instead of commanding a ton of men in one giant army. This idea is great...Until you play the DLC where the AI will just not work to your advantage at all and under no circumstances think through things for the battle. If you are in artillery, the AI will send you to the frontline, at the start of a battle, you will be given an order to go capture a point which is usually defended by the enemy, but when you move out, YOU ARE LUCKY IF THE ARMY FOLLOWED YOU OR WENT THERE. There have been so many times when the orders change on the flick of a switch and you are caught by yourself because you were told to go to that point and fight, but then told to run away last second. The AI on BOTH sides it seems are incredibly passive (granted I played this on the AI being passive, but it's still extremely passive even on your side) where you will sit there in one spot not able to do anything except maybe buy (yes, buy) some upgrades like a few items, maybe a sword and revolver or a horse. There are great ideas here like having your guy go do a fundraiser to give your character more money (Mine got 500 dollars) and use the money to buy things you want or have your men drilled and they become more specialized, but it is ultimately bogged down so heavily by the wonky AI in the battles and on the campaign map that makes it unfun. That and your unit will break rather easily, leaving your men to retreat off the map. I had a moment where I had an advantage on a group of soldiers. I charged them and my men instantly broke. They ran off the entire map and we lost. While it might not mean much when you are able to command and entire army, seeing your one group that outnumbers another enemy group, charge and instantly break is just stupid. That and you might not even have your commander come and fight in the battle AT ALL. I decided to break rank because my entire corps(?) stayed behind while everyone else fought on the frontlines. The battle lasted three days and NOT A SINGLE UNIT OF OURS MOVED UP. ♥♥♥♥ the AI, ♥♥♥♥ this DLC and the fact it failed at ideas that made me really want to like it. I am so pissed off because this sounded like an extremely great and fun idea, but it was shafted and ruined, burned at the stake because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI and its problems. Until the devs (Who I am sure are great people) fix this, DO NOT BUY THIS DLC
