After a rather disappointing 2nd game, Etrian Odyssey 3 is finally where ATLUS hit it right.
EO3 is a very punishing and hard game that when things click, feels very satisfying to complete.


+ Plenty of classes to play around with, all of them range from decent to really good.
+ Team building and synergy are finally a real thing that massively rewards you.
+ Subclassing further adds a layer to this, although the good choices here end up rather overpowered compared to the rest.
+ Creating maps is done decently well, they tried their best with the lack of a second screen. (NDS game)
+ OST is phenomenal as usual
+ Artwork looks great


+/- Story is okay, never the real focus of the game but at least this games provides something interesting.
+/- Sailing is a decent change of pace but ultimately more flavor than something substantial.


- lack of info on the skills is quite frankly the biggest issue with this game (withholding vital information from your players is just not good or fun)
- resetting skill points costs levels, coupled with the lack of skill info it tends to feel like you get punished for something out of your control
- the f o n t SUCKS
