I have a little over 100 hours in Elden ring as of writing this. I've played with multiple different builds and enjoy the game thoroughly!
The DLC did not live up to the base game, despite being a great addition to it.

I'm gonna dive into a few of the things that make the DLC great, while also covering some of it's major flaws.

Pros

  • The Weapons!
they feel and look amazing and are an overall great addition! the smoothness of the backhanded blades, the power of the colossal ones, mixed with the new ashes of war, it's fantastic!

  • The Armor!
The armor they added gave me whole new sets to play with, and had the bonus of also just being good stat-wise! The few caveats i have with it i'll cover in a bit.

  • The Bosses/enemies!
The Divine Beast Dancing Lion was such a great introductory boss to the DLC, it's moves looked good, they changed effects based on the element the lion used and the difficulty felt like what was expected, all the bosses just felt overall great to fight against and had compelling visuals! The new enemies were creative, although i wished for a bit more variety and new enemies to meet throughout the DLC!
The only boss i can complain about is the final one, but i'll touch on that too later

  • The Soundtrack!
As always, FromSoftware never misses with their OST, nuff said!

  • The Environment!
I think some of the areas in the DLC rival even the prettiest areas in the maingame, especially the cerulean coast. It was breathtaking to experience and to discover while walking around, exiting a cave into a new environment felt like a portal!

Cons

  • Layout!
A vast majority of the time i was travelling around the map of elden ring, i never felt the need to look anything up, if i saw somewhere on the map, i could get there with little trouble other than enemies. The DLC however suffers the problem of trying to fit too much content into too little of a space and then resorting to only giving you one specific path to the majority of areas.
    I'll give you an example;
Let's say you wanted to head to the 'Finger Ruins of Dheo'. First you have to find a specific passage in morth ruins, which is easy enough to find, then you have to go through bonny village, which again is easy enough. then you have to head all the way north to rabbath's rise where there's a tunnel to go through, once you've done that you have to enter the shadow keep and drain it of all it's water. after that you have to find the boss you go to through there, no not the scadutree avatar, commander gaius. Once you found his summon room you have to go to a specific statue by his grace and do a specific emote that i sure hope you picked up a specific emote for, because if you missed it there is no indication of where it is. and even if you picked it up, there is next to no indication of which emote to use, or even that you need to use one, and then, and only then, can you pass through 2 other regions to get there. And that's not touching on how easy it is to miss as you have to do a load of very careful parkour to reach it, which is a pain in and of itself as the game gives you no reason to think there's anything else in that area after you killed the scadutree avatar.
Oh, and every area other than the ones the roads lead directly to, is this hard to find. You usually have to go through very specific paths that lead to other hidden very specific paths and hope to find what you're looking for. Here's a list of bosses i would have missed if i hadn't looked up how to get there; Commander Gaius, count ymir Mother of fingers, Ghostflame Dragon x2, Metyr Mother of fingers, Rakshasa, Dancer of Ranah, putrescent knight, death rite bird, demi-human queen marigga, Ancient dragon Senessax, Bayle the dread (One of the main bosses btw), Jagged Peak Drake x2, fallingstar beast, Jori elder inquisitor! and that's not counting most minibosses. And yes, i even checked if others struggled too, and most had to look up a guide to find their way around.
This is overall my biggest criticism of the DLC, i'm all for exploring and finding stuff on my own, but locking over 50% of the game behind extremely specific locations is crazy. I spent hours searching for most of these before resorting to guides that said "If you go from this site of grace then it's this way" only to have to look up where said site of grace was as that was hidden away too.

  • Final boss
So, i know FS games are supposed to be hard, and i fully agree with that sentiment! and i don't think the final boss is too hard, i simply think the hitbox of the weapons they use are too large, this goes for a few of the other bosses as well, but the biggest offender was the final boss. With his sheer size in comparison to the player he should be swinging it down towards us not forward, this throws off the timing of dodges and has a very deceiving hitbox when his weapons go over your head, yet still hit you! I'm all for a challenge, but i'm not all that much for BS. And it feels like BS when i dodge a move only to take damage. During a vast majority of base game fights the hitbox is something marvelous! You can do a jump attack and land in a crouched position and see the boss swing over you and it feels great, but in my attempts at the final boss his weapons always seemed to hit, even when they didn't connect. which felt frustrating.
I do however think his fight is fun and not nearly as hard as people make it out to be!

  • Quests
The questlines in the DLC are great, i love them!
Despite this though, the think that irks me is the lockout of these quests once the DLC is done. In the base game you could go back and finish a majority of quests even after finishing the game, but it feels like i got punished for following the path the game carved out for me, which made me miss many quests and rewards as i beat the DLC. I am only now discovering many of the NPCs that are now unwilling to interact with me or can't be interacted with anymore due to the final boss being beaten, which feels like very poor implementation of these quests, as i had to go way out of my way to even interact with these npcs even once!

Final Thoughts
Although Elden ring was a 9.5/10 in every aspect, i'd have to mark the DLC as a 7/10, which is relatively low compared to prior FS DLC and content!
Ultimately the DLC suffers too much from "idk, look up a guide and figure it out" syndrome, which is very demoralizing when you play through it for the first time! I believe if they took more time to stretch the map out more, and indicate better where things and NPCs are through subtle hints and interactions, this could easily turn into an 8.5, but for now i wouldn't say this one is worth it to those who didn't thoroughly enjoy the base game and are thirsting for more!
I would only recommend this if you are yearning for more Elden ring after the base game. Otherwise, just go play Dark Souls if you haven't, or Sekiro!

TL;DR
Look up a map or guide for first playthroughs, you won't find 50% of the game otherwise. Dnd don't fight the last boss until you've done every questline.
