Bandai Namco and FromSoftware return with yet another solid game that makes you UNIMAGINABLY ANGRY.

It pains me to give this game a negative review. I love the original games and have for a long time. I followed the development of this game close as I could from the moment it was announced. But. Right now, at launch, it's unplayable for me.

I'm above minimum requirements and the only time it's not a slide show is at the lowest possible resolution. I know coming from Ukraine, the devs probably have some bigger issues right now, so I'd say give them some leniency and wait for updates.

Do I recommend Dredge? Absolutely.

Do I recommend Iron Rig? ehhhhhh not really. The biggest boon this dlc grants is a unique tier of ship hull that makes your boat big as hell with tons of space, which is awesome. New fish to liven things up a bit as well. BUUUUUUT. The entire story line is a rinse and repeat "go here, catch these 4 specific fish, come back, go there, catch these 4 specific fish, come back," on and on and on. If it were at least a new area it probably wouldn't feel that bad, but it's just the base game locations so it gets really boring really quick. I tapped out after grinding for the unique ship hull tier because I just couldn't be bothered to keep doing the same exact thing over and over and over again.

I'm not mad, i'm just disappointed.

Going into this game, I actually wanted to like it. Like most people I was exposed to this game through over hyped scream streamers a few years back. I didn't decide to splurge on this game until now, and I regret it.

There is a pointless leveling system that seems to only exist to draw out your play time artificially, like for instance, the fact there's a level 80 upgrade for the flashlight of all things. Apparently this isn't how the game has always been, and it's a new feature that a lot of people seem to not like. Still, I'm not reviewing the Phasmophobia from 3 years ago, I'm reviewing the Phasmophobia you get right now.

Then there's the point to be made this game is actually incredibly boring even with friends. We were walking around repeating the same three cliche ghost hunter phrases for nothing at all to happen. When a ghost finally did appear it just seemed kind of random.

Over that, the game really isn't scary. Every single ghost does the exact same thing. It smears its fingers in your eye balls and drags you off to some ghosty meat room, and then you're dead. Which is a major missed opportunity considering the fact there's literally a ghost with a big ass meat cleaver and it just...does nothing with it???

I mean they take the time to give each of the ghosts at least a mostly unique look, but when it comes down to it, it's just the same NPC with a different skin. Which just makes them dreadfully predictable and drab. Overall, the "scares" aren't quiet as offensively dumb as .png jumpscares, but not much better.

I could go on, but I think the most sobering thing about this game is that my friend pointed out people probably just play this game to have something to occupy time. Or more exactly, "people play this game like I play Destiny 2". Which is just kinda...disappointing.

I knew this game was never going to be as scary as scream streamers want you to think it is, I mean Christ, these guys probably jump at their own shadows, but I expected at least a half decent horror game and instead got....ghost themed level grind simulator. If they removed the dumb leveling system, or found some better alternative method to keep people around, and if they did more to make the scares...actually scary and less boring, I could see my review changing. But for now, I'd say just let this game slip by. Go play lethal company or something.

MDickie games are built different. There's a certain janky charm to them that is unmistakably MDickie. Unlike Bethesda and most other dev studios these days though, the jank is the fun kind. Like all of the games made by this dev, it takes some getting used to, but is very worth it.

Pretty fun, highly custom war game. Workshop is overflowing with fantastic content. You like star wars? We got content for all the eras. Like warhammer 40k? We got it. We don't just got nerdy fantasy/sci-fi, we also got history, lots of history. Napoleonic wars? Oh yeah. WW1? Yup. WW2? You betcha. African PMC conflicts, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and any modern conflict you can imagine? Check, check, check, and check. Wanna just be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ caveman throwing rocks and sticks at other cavemen? It's there. There's even one guy who created his own setting and lore, and released content for it in the form of mods for this game (project altirus). The modding scene is spicy hot and ensures there's always something different to do.

More than anything it's a really good time killer, but that's not a bad thing. Worth getting for the price, I'd say.

They lure you in with borrowed grace,
From games and tales in eerie space—
Death Stranding’s gloom, Ghostwire’s charm,
Lovecraft’s dread, and Sirenhead’s alarm.

The visuals, true, are crafted well,
But beauty fades where gameplay fell.
Beneath the shine, it all decays,
In boredom’s grasp, the spirit sways.

No thrilling fights in PVP,
No joy in joining friends with glee.
A pretty turd is still a turd,
No matter how the shine is stirred.

Once Human tries to strike a chord,
But leaves you sad and bored.

also idk how to fit this into the poem but the devs were literally begging for positive reviews. So, go screw yourselves.

Amazing mil-sim, just buy it and the DLC on sale. Otherwise you're gonna be in for a bad time.
