Dawn of War is the legendary classic that started it all.

Yes, this RTS may be old and outdated but is still MILES better than that pathetic Dawn of War 3.
The campaign is the best part, while a dedicated multiplayer community can be found in Soulstorm modding.

For many it was their first contact with the Warhammer 40.000 franchise, as it was for me back in 2009-ish.
I still have the box and disc but for some reason damn Steam did not accept my codes for this and Dark Crusade.

I have lost count how many times I completed DoW before Steam. Dozens of hours or more.
This game is absolutely great.
The voice acting is outstanding, the music is iconic, huge armies fighting which is can only be found in DoW and its expansions, oh and the sweet kill animations are just the cherry on top~!

While Starcraft and Warcraft got lost in their endless chase for balance, Dawn of War has chosen stupid mad fun!
Just build a large army and observe the carnage.
The "Company of Heroes"-esque tactics are a a nice touch and do give an edge, but it is the fireworks that matter.


Good game but Dark Crusade is when DoW peaked.
Play it.
