This game is fun, looks amazing and properly conveys the "Space Marine" power fantasy.

My only complaints are higher difficulties going the lazy way of making enemies bullet sponges which directly works against said power fantasy. A small tyranid should not take 4 swings with a chainsword to kill. Make them do more damage, make them more aggressive, spawn more of them. Anything but just increasing HP...

The other complaint is that zooming in is NOT "ultrawide support". My god it is [current year], ultrawide support should be something standard nowadays, not some lazy, half-assed implementation after launch.

Still, recommended.

Memory leak preventing me from playing longer than an hour at a time. Come on now, this shouldn't happen for a game of this caliber.

Negative review until it is fixed.

Edit: Issue seems to be fixed. I can enjoy this incredible game fully now.

Sony backtracked their decision to make PSN account linking mandatory on PC after the "overwhelmingly negative" backlash.

I'm glad I can edit my review to be positive again because this is one of the most fun games currently available.

I love Democracy!

UPDATE 2: Well then. This is the first time I need to edit a review twice. In the time between my first edit and now, Wayfinder has pulled a complete 180, transforming from a quasi-MMO into a singleplayer/coop experience. Most likely due to the horrible server problems at launch and their publisher straight up disintegrating.

But honestly? I always felt like the MMO aspect of the game didn't really fit into what the game was doing. I am much happier with the coop experience the game has turned to and while not everyone may agree with this stance, it is probably the best way to keep this game alive. As a bonus, they have removed any and all microtransactions.

UPDATE: The server issues are mostly fixed. You can actually play the game for an extended period of time now. Queues are minimal, thankfully.
As for the game itself, its pretty fun. Definitely not an MMORPG. More like an online-coop game with open world elements. Combat is quite fluid although the game doesn't seem to care onto which server it places me. Sometimes its very snappy, other times I feel like I have a 300+ ping. Very unfortunate.
Haven't played for long enough to really get a feel for the grind yet. The game currently suffers from a lack of explanations of its systems. Its quite unclear where I can get materials, how they work, what I need and how that Echo system works to get my power level up. I'm also quite far away from crafting either a new Wayfinder or a new weapon.
All issues that can be fixed during early access. The core gameplay is good.

2.5 hours of "time played" are actually 10 minutes of tutorial and the rest spent waiting in the main menu to get in.
From the 10 minutes I did play I'd love to keep playing the game some more but until they remove whatever player cap they have on the servers I won't bother.

No aspect of this game is revolutionary. For its price its quite short. I finished the entire thing in 15 hours while doing a substantial part of side activities.
The combat is quite fun albeit clunky to the point of frustrating in certain parts.
Definite recommend during a sale, for 50 bucks not so much.

All in all I recommend. If you liked MW2019, you'll like this one.

Pros:
Incredibly smooth gunplay and movement. Guns feel satisfying to use (for the most part) with view-model animations to die for.
Amazing campaign, continuing the story from 2019 with state of the art cutscenes and performance capture.
Great hardware performance. No issue to get 120fps on an almost-4k resolution for me.
Mostly bug-free, quite polished.

Cons:
Piss poor UI. Honestly, this is one of the worst UI/UX I've ever seen in a game. Whoever designed this really needs to remake it from the ground up.
Some connection issues when in a party also combined with awful UI.
Quite a bit of missing gamemodes/maps missing at launch. Might change with S1.

After about 800 hours on the regular client I can confidently say that this is the best MMORPG cuurently on the market.

A somewhat hidden gem, this game respects your time. Not stuffing you into endless back-and-forth-interaction-key-spam grind but rather focusing on diverse and challenging class and quest gameplay and a rich and narratively fullfilling story.

Getting a character to max level (80) is fairly quick and doing the story missions accelerates that while also providing you with one of the deepest and satisfying story arcs in MMO history.

Many recently released MMOs have failed because there was not enough end game content for players to keep them busy. Guild Wars 2 has a sheer endless ocean of end game content (Fractals, Raids, Dungeons, Strike Missions, Meta-Events, Crafting, Masteries, Collections/Achievements, PvP, WvW, etc...). The way Guild Wars 2 opens up once reaching max character level is comparable to Terraria after beating the Wall of Flesh. Its safe to say that the actual game only really begins after reaching level 80.

Another benefit is the mega-server system Arena.net employs which makes server selection completely irrelevant if you want to play with friends. Even for the World vs. World (WvW) gamemode, the only mode where server selection actually matters, is getting reworked to remove that aspect and allow for more flexibilty.

All in all this game offer thousands upon thousands hours of fun and is 100% worth the try. I could keep on writing paragraph after paragraph but if you are reading this, you should click the download button instead.
The base game is free after all, granting access to almost all base game content. And the expansions are very fairly prices for the amount of extra content that they offer.

No ultrawide support
FPS cap at 60
Lackluster options menu
Poor performance at launch

Gameplay wise its an incredible game. An open world chock full of things to explore and enemies to fight. Personally I'm kind of disappointed that the game went the Dark Souls route in terms of combat while I would've preferred a more Sekiro-like experience. Lovers of Dark Souls will adore this game. Once the technical aspects improve this game will live up to the 10/10s seen on every review site.

All in all an incredible disappointment.

EA/Dice canceled support for Battlefront 2, Battlefield V, took an extra year of development time and scrapped any sort of campaign. And yet we still get the most underwhelming and disappointing entry in the franchise ever.

  • Number of guns and maps at launch is laughable
  • Classes got scrapped in favor of the absolutely horrendous specialist system and their cringey voice lines
  • 128 players and larger maps, while good and paper, transform this game into a running simulator with giant, empty swaths of maps with noone in them
  • Hazard zone isn't even worth talking about. Barely played by anyone. If you want an escape experience play Tarkov
  • Portal seems like the only even somewhat good thing coming out of this

Not recommended. Do not buy. Stick to BF1 or BFV

Once you get past the incredibly steep learning curve due to a lack of tutorials, it's an insanely satisfying logistics game. Not easy to get into, but once you're in it flows very smoothly.
