This game has reminded me what a true sandbox plays like. NPCs aren't shouting at me to go to a certain objective. The world isn't equipped with rails trying to guide me towards the completion of the game. It's a world that truly doesn't give a damn if I exist or not. Every NPC doesn't remind me about the fact that it's the apocalypse. Society had been rebuilt out of the ashes of the ashes of the ashes, and it kind of hits differently when I'm left to find that out on my own.

The game isn't nut busting hard, it simply doesn't hold your hand. You learn quickly the value of choosing your battles. When you start to earn your first bit of currency, it comes with a greater sense of reward. You can build a bright beacon to serve as a bastion of civilization, or you can be an absolute bastard. In the ind however, it doesn't matter, because nobody else left in the world truly gives a damn.
