An amazing homage to the ps1 era of survival horror with a few twists and surprises which provides a fresh experience for both new and old fans of the genre.

One thing I really respect crow country for is their openness to embrace the tank controls of yesteryear and bring it into the modern era. Many games which tend to go with the retro aesthetic replicate the visuals but fear away from said tank controls and give a more modern experience instead which reminds you that you are playing a new game trying to act like an old one. Whereas this game really convinces you that you're playing an old 90s game on a emulator whilst not feeling too aged.

Although the game is only 5 hours which may seem short for a £17 game don't let it deter you from giving the game a good shot as the quality is insane and any reasonable person would rather have that over a padded out yapfest of a game.

If you are looking for a spooky and charming Halloween (but not limited to Halloween) experience then this is the game for you.

SH2's main selling point is atmosphere and to say it sells it well is a understatement; so much so, it's practically impossible adapt into words but the feelings it gives you with the combination of the iconic soundtrack is just unreal.

I don't know how they managed to upgrade the voice work to such a degree whilst keeping it so uncanny also.

for general gameplay, It carries on the recent trend in survival horror games of taking plenty of inspiration from the Resident evil remakes; which is more of a general observation than a complaint. But what i feel they failed in was bringing over some of the satisfying object interaction animations seen in the re games such as unlocking doors or cutting chains with a bolt cutter. In SH2 if you unlock a padlock for example, the lock just seems to de-manifest rather then having a fancy unlocking animation which is a shame.

Finally, I would say the game could of been made a bit shorter in some sections as sometimes you could argue some dungeons and sections seemed to drag on a little too long especially which can be seen in the hospital and the run to the prison afterwards.

These critiques may seem like splitting hairs but it's more the fact that there isn't really much to critique.

All in all it's a easy recommend to both new survival horror fans and veterans.

9/10 - although it's a steep price of 60 quid i would say it's worth it at full price but buy it in sale if you are in no rush.

Amazing game. Too tired to write a proper review but just posting this to say that I like it.

Bosses were Peak and enemy Variety was amazing throughout the entire game.

The secret areas were also super cool and meaty despite being optional, I do think the blacksmith should be hidden behind a easy to miss side quest however.

The environmental design ascetically is a feat of engineering; although, I wish the level layouts were more prone to showing POI's as they can be quite easy to miss however in turn, this makes the game world feel authentic and real rather than a level in a video game.

The progression system, set pieces and weaponry was also super cool and flexible in the sense that you can, at any time, change your talent point allocation. This is something fromsoft should take note of as having finite to obtain finite resources and smiting stones in elden ring just to experiment with new weapons was a drag.

In regards to ratings, I'd give it a 9.5/10 and is easily the game of the year. It would be a 10/10 but i do feel there are little critiques and improvements that can easily be ironed out before rating it a flawless score so this is the next best thing i can give it from the apex. But it is a game teeming with passion and love and I would implore everyone at the very least to give it a try at some point. (also people should stop comparing it to x or y game just appreciate the game can be it's own thing at the very most it only takes sprinkles of elements from different games).

With Lies of P, NEOWIZ accomplished two impressive feats which elevate one another in synergy.

The first feat being despite this being their first ever game (if i recall correctly) lies of P is incredibly polished and plays incredibly.

As for their second feat, they went ahead and made the best non-soft souls game I have every played blowing all the competition out of the water on their first attempt (and I would argue even surpasses some from soft titles).

This review was written at the conclusion of my second play through of the (first being on gamepass at launch) and I can feel that they didn't just abandon the game post-launch (though, not to say it was in a bad state). Balancing feels far more fair and hit-boxes feel almost universally improved which was one of my gripes from my first play through.

I won't spoil the contents of the game itself but if you enjoy souls, please give this a shot, it's basically Sekrio with some Bloodborne flavour in terms of both atmosphere and game-play.

I cannot wait for their DLC and potential sequel if it's anywhere near as good as this game.

"the game is too hard" this, "the game needs to be optimised" that.

People are looking in the wrong areas when critiquing this game.

What we actually need are steam achivements. How am I supposed to flex my big wang to my friends who totally care if there aren't any?

Plz fix fromsoft......

Oh also, the dlc is peak kino, you should buy it but be aware, it is hard but the 100s of other reviews will inform you of that anyway.

It's fair to say I am one of the lucky ones to not have that many issues with the performance of Dragon's dogma 2. Sure, it could be a lot better, but I am averaging around 60-100fps in the wilds and around 60-40 in the capital with a 3070 and ryzen 5800x at max settings, 1440p so it is far from unplayable.

(TIPS FOR OPTIMISATION: TURN OFF DLSS/FSR, AND SET YOUR PROGRAM TO HIGH PRIO IN TASK MANAGER IT DOES WONDERS)

The micro transactions suck but I have felt no pressure into buying any of them and i doubt that sentiment will change. As for the game itself, you cannot go wrong with it; at this point it has me completely hooked and I look forward to continuing my journey.

Not really much else I can think of.

I am going to give this a positive review regardless of the current negative stigma to the game right now based off my personal experience but I can understand the current frustration that others must currently be feeling.

Game of the year 2023 and it ain't even close. It's not only an amazing game; it allows people who haven't tried or have not had the opportunity to partake in a D&D-esque campaign since the barrier to entry can be quite high as you need a competent DM and a group of players who are willing to commit. The game-play and combat of this game is amazing (don't be put off by the turn based nature i promise you it's amazing) and i'm glad to report that the freedom of choice isn't locked to story choices and dialogue options; you can see it carried over to the character building too. The ability to multi class is a blast and as i wrap up my first play through i'm already excited to see the other classes i can combine as well as hunting for gear to complement and even complete the builds. For people who are hesitant to purchase and try the game because they don't have a full party and fear that may lessen the experience may as well push that sentiment to the side as it is somewhat of a myth. 2-3 players is also great and so is going solo. This was my first Larian Studios title and I can easily say that I'm now a big fan and look forward to their future works as well as going back to their older games too.

I would like to give a shout out to my current party i'm playing with at the moment as if it wasn't for them I would of tragically skipped this gem.

My first start to finish Dark souls game and after playing the entire from soft collection of souls games I'd easily say this is the best entry point. The joy and magic of exploring is for better or for worse still a core memory of mine. If anyone is on the fence about getting into the franchise but are scared about the reputation of it being super hard I implore you to ignore the sentiment and try it for yourself. It's really not that hard people just like to be hyperbolic. After you get a hold of ropes and general sense of gameplay I'm sure you'll do great.

A faithful and amazingly made remake of half life. Can't really think of much else to say.
