If you have played and enjoyed the Persona games, you will enjoy this, as it's a similar style and formula but a different setting with better exploration mechanics.

One note of criticism however: IF YOU HAVE MOTION SICKNESS, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU OR WILL BE DIFFICULT TO TOLERATE! The game has movement constantly, whether it be the borders of conversation boxes constantly moving, the transition screens have a lot of movement, and there are scenes on the outside of the Gauntlet Runner that involve you having a conversation with a character while the environment moves rapidly behind you. The game has nothing to mitigate this, there's no option for static conversation boxes or static transition scenes. Everything is constantly moving on screen.

Hit or miss whether the game boots or not, visuals are weirdly grainy, can't turn off lens flares which are everywhere, kind of clunky. Guess it's okay for its price, but it feels like it was just made with assets and thrown out there without optimizing.

If you like grindy games you'll enjoy this, gives you plenty of time to dedicate towards developing a bunch of skills. The game is like a combination of Mount and Blade and Conan Exiles. The game definitely defines itself more by being part of a Guild and working together, playing by yourself won't see you progressing very quickly or having very much fun.

The combat is pretty terrible though, it's similar to Mount and Blade in that you can pick a direction to attack and defend from which is simple enough, but when you attack enemy NPCs it's just a terrible time. NPCs never miss ever, whether it be range or melee. With weapons like the Spear, they can attack instantly and with almost no telegraphed movements to it and don't need much of a wind up to repeatedly stab you.

Game is tons of fun, such a great improvement from the first game. It feels very intense and rewarding. Playing with the right people can be a load of fun. Main issue facing the game right now is that it's much more popular than anticipated and every time they increase server capacity, the players top it out. Any complaints about not getting in should be taken lightly as the Devs have been working very hard to try and get more and more people playing. Right now you just may need a little patience before the optimal server amount has been figured out.

Loads of fun. The gameplay, aesthetic, and the theme are all cool. Definitely better with friends.

The game shot off to a rocky start but the core was good. After putting in plenty of time and care into the game, it is one of my favourites to jump into. It feels intense, you feel strong yet challenged, and the music makes you feel like you're ingrained into the 40k Universe. Great game.

The Devs have worked to make sure systems that were present in the previous game are part of the current game which is nice, but why it wasn't included at launch is baffling in the first place. Because of their work on making sure all of these basic in demand systems are in place it has essentially set them back 1 year just to get up to where they should be at. I'm glad they've worked at it as it shows they want to continue to keep the game going, but it has also meant that the game hasn't seen any drastic changes.

There have been no new Battlegroups added since launch, meaning unless you are hardcore dedicated to PvP matches, your options in term of variety for gameplay are limited. CoH2 had multiple commanders released within the first year of its release and CoH3 has seen no change.

New maps are nice, but the workshop community has been doing some pretty heavy lifting on that end so map releases aren't really met with huge fanfare. There's supposed to be an expansion come December, I hope it comes with a variety of Battlegroup options to refresh the game.

Early Access Review
Thought I'd give this an updated review since the most recent significant update. I haven't been experiencing graphical and performance issues like other people since they switched to UE5, in fact my performance has improved. I've disabled bounce lights and per-object shadows and everything runs very smoothly.

As for gameplay, the game hasn't really progressed gameplay-wise all that much. Without mods you'll still have aimbot enemies who bounce around the map holding full-auto with endless supplies of magazines. Missions however are graded, and if you want a perfect mission score everyone has to go non-lethal. This wouldn't be so bad if non-lethal options were a little more extensive and if suspect AI would actually respond to being pelted by multiple bean bags from a bean bag shotgun. So trying to get a perfect score isn't difficult because you have to figure out how to cleverly plan out a mission, it's dependent on hoping the AI will respond appropriately.

In the newest update they made a mission more realistic which wouldn't be all that bad in a game that didn't have a grading system that achievements depend on, but turns out that's actually what we have.

There is a mission with a shooting going on at a community college. Previously you'd a bit of a grace period so you could find the suspects before they started shooting up civilians, but now they'll engage almost immediately, so the mission has turned into a terrible RNG mess hoping you'll get the proper layout so you can pass the mission, and that's just poor game design. Is it more realistic? Yes. Does maximum realism equate to a better game experience? No.

Aside from that terrible level, a lot of the missions have a great atmosphere to them and they all feel really intense. The newest DLC maps are all very nice and have great environmental storytelling. The game is definitely more fun with friends, but you can play with AI Swat teammates. Sometimes these Swat AI are great, other times they just block the doorways and occasionally suck at reacting to commands.

The game does have a fair amount of weapons to choose from, however there has been 0 progression in doing something about attachments for weapons. They only recently made a change that made red dot sights and holo sights more visible so slightly too much light wouldn't make it so the dots would disappear. Other than that, attachments have remained the same, there haven't been new attachment additions aside from some weapons have alternate versions of previously present attachments.

The game is okay, and the only reason I give it a thumbs down is because for the game being in development for a significant amount of time, a lot of QoL things and simple things still haven't been resolved. You can go onto mod sites and download mods that address these issues and it definitely does make the game more enjoyable, however it should never fall onto the modding community to resolve issues the community has had for a long time.

After awhile of positive action we now are going to see the introduction of Rank 8 vehicles. For those unaware, these are supposed to be the most modern vehicles to date, I.E. - ones currently in use. This of course is leading to heavy discourse in the community regarding vehicle balance at this level.

What we're seeing right now is what's been a meme for War Thunder's entire existence, in that there is heavy Russian bias. Gaijin allows you to post suggestions in their forums if you believe information about vehicles is incorrect so that they can fix it for "Maximum realism." The problem being that many reports regarding NATO vehicles with multiple sources is constantly being shot down, specifically by a specific Moderator on the forums, claiming the sources aren't enough or that certain designs aren't a bug. He's done it in so far as to basically say they won't change anything unless Top Secret information is revealed.

Obviously this game has a history of this kind of information being leaked, and it is heavily discouraged and is obviously illegal. Gaijin will not change values based on Top Secret information, they've stated so in the past. So we have a Moderator essentially begging players to do something illegal.

The other issue being, this specific moderator has accepted Russian propaganda commercials as acceptable sources to make the proposed latest Russian vehicles more powerful than reality would suggest. He's also rejected official sources from the Bundeswehr themselves. So there's clearly an indiscrepancy on how suggestions are treated by this Moderator.

So until Gaijin switches to acknowledging reports equally and appropriately, or, if they decide to make vehicles balanced for the sake of gameplay at this Rank, this review will remain negative.

Very average, price should 50% of what it is. New weapons and gear is nice but all of the missions feel the same and are rather dull. Wait for it to go on sale or be bundled in a sale.
