The best classical final fantasy game that had never been created by square enix.

Can get repetitive, but not bad if you are up for a challenge. Yes, it gets repetitive. The roguelike curtain the game hides itself behind is a huge illusion here, don't be fooled by it. Because you do the exact same things in every run, regardless of how different the map is. Even the direction you advance is the same. Definitely don't expect a life-changing, groundbreaking RPG experience neither.

But still can be an alternative to any other time-waster game.

Energy concept had gave a nice survival feeling to the game.

I really don't like the minimap though, it's so hard to distinguish if there's a mountain or a road there, I hope they improve the quality of the minimap in the future.

When you are able to beat the endgame boss and unlock new things, it's damn satisfying though!

It has severe compability issues with current operating systems. At first, the game did not open at all, then I followed a quick guide and removed two setting files, and got the game working. Then I headed to tutorial to get a grip.

Then what do I see? The game is running. It's running in 10 fps. And I'm not even the type who would hesitate from a bit of lag. But this was plainly unplayable.

I'm sorry, no matter how great this game might be back in the day, I cannot recommend this game under these circumstances.

If this game has any lessons to teach, it's that you are nothing but a cash dispenser for females.
And you still somehow gain tons of money from dates, lol.

But not really, you probably shouldn't even attempt to take any life lessons from this game at all, it's filled with unrealistic and overly exaggerated stereotypical characters. Nothing serious at all. It's bejeweled dating sim, what do you expect?

I'm making this a thumbs up since there is no middle ground, but if there was, my choice would be that middle ground. It isn't all that terrible really, but it isn't a masterpiece neither.
Nice music, good quality animated sprites, good backgrounds. It shows that there had been an effort in making of this game, overall good game quality. Good price for a game like this too. That's why I can recommend it to you if you wanna try a dating sim-kinda thing which has sex(kinda?) in it. But don't expect to feel romantically involved with the characters, that won't happen.

This game is a proof that games are actually pieces of art, or the proof that at least they could very well turn out to be, instead of being shallow pastimes that doesn't have enough emotional investment, like how majority of the games are today.

And it also can be enough of an incentive for you to finally decide to support non-early access indie developers. Better than some of the greedy AAA companies, that's for sure. Independent developers are not obliged to be bound by the deadlines, allowing them take their time to truly perfect their games, such is the case for Freebirdgames. While other companies shove their yearly games down your throat which are riddled with bugs and copy pastes of their previous titles.

As for the game itself, if you've been reading enough you must have already seen enough of these mentions already: it will make you cry out tears of laughter and it will make you cry out tears of sadness and also joy maybe. It has exceptionally eargasm-inducing soundtrack.

So in my opinion, Freebirdgames is the company which deserves the money they got the most. So I'll support them to no ends.

Also 50% of the OST purchases goes to charities for autism too. You really gotta love your indie developers. Learn to appreciate them.

If you are a 22 year old and have had experience with tons of videogames from the point when you were just 3 years old, and even today if a particular game can make you rush to the computer to play it as soon as you woke up before doing anything else, just like as if you were an excited kid who saw their first videogame in their life ever, then that pretty much means that this game is most probably one hell of a game.
That was the case for me and FTL.

This game simply fullfills every space adventure fantasy you could ever have. Highly addictive and replay value is off the charts because of it's insane randomness. None of your previous journeys could be like the next one that you are about to begin. Or the opposite rather. Good subtle implication on how vast the space is.

It delivers the whole atmosphere pretty amazingly, the soundtrack is a masterpiece, one moment you are jumping from a relatively peaceful part of the space, and in the next moment you are suddenly in the middle of a fight with pirates, and the music takes it's pace, the ambient song which was relaxing a moment ago slightly alters itself, drums kick in and becomes perfectly suitable for the action paced new environment in absolute fluency.

The total randomness, mystery and ambiguity of space is there. You don't know what next jump will lead you to. Maybe death... maybe an opportunity to turn the tides of your fate. The intensity and responsibility of commandering a space explorer is there. You take life and death decisions in every moments. And with all the hype and intensity, you find yourself roleplaying and dramatizing the situations as the captain, and giving the anonymous characters in your ship a background without even realizing it. And even find yourself giving motivational speeches to your comrades after a very rough fight.

Every playthrough of this game can take between 2-3 hours depending on how experienced you are on this game. And you won't even want to pause when you started a run, trust me. And you won't want to stop playing another and another round until you beat your dastardly fate that comes at the end of each adventure. You will see the errors of your ways everytime you fail miserably, and you will find out how astonishingly satisfying it is when your new plan in your next playthrough actually works. All the better if you didn't get any online help. I gotta be serious, this game is hard, really hard at times. But mastering it is easy.

And don't try to be a badass and don't play it on normal if you are a newbie, beat it on easy first, noob! And always play it on the advanced mode, because you should rather get used to the new features.

I bought this game and wasted my money in hopes of applying the restoration patch and running it without any problems at all. Which didn't happen, I couldn't make the restoration patch work just because I'm using windows 8, I visited countless steam guides, I tried everything, downloaded multiple fixed bat files, changed my app local, and none of that worked, on top of that the steam had removed some of the links a guide provided and I couldn't get them, so most probably they have an influence on why it is not working as well.

This ♥♥♥♥ is on moenovel who cannot provide clear support about this, apparently. And also it's time all those japanese companies crawled from their holes and provided some international customer support, seriously. But you could only wish. If they could, I could try to email pulltop as well, but no. So screw you too, pulltop.

If you are looking for some 4kids level lame watered down pussified visual novel, buy it from steam. If you wanna have a heartwarming experience together with crucial adult content, get it from somewhere else, or pirate it or something. Surely it's better than buying from here with the hopes and getting ripped off.

Edit: I emailed Moenovel in hopes of finding a closure to my problem about applying a working patch (which was completely their fault, by ruining the game, so it's definitely their responsibility to provide this kind of help, anyway), and they simply refused to help me. It's obvious that they do not care about the satisfaction of their customers and all they seek is to leech out money by ruining titles that they did not even created themselves in the first place.


tl;dr: Avoid like wild fire, at least the steam version.
