I'm no critic so I probably don't have all the correct fancy words for it but I REALLY enjoyed this game. There are three main points I'd like to highlight on why, that being, in no specific order.

1 Art Style / Directing
The first thing that will normally catch my eye when looking into a game (usually through watching the first trailer they have) is how it looks. At first I had my doubts that most of what I was presented with is all I would see but I was very wrong. Paying more attention SIGNALIS doesn't always stick to it's pixel/retro top down design and that impressed me a lot. In certain sections it brings you in for first person to solve puzzles or search areas, in these moments as well you are given more detail for what's shown. Other times when cut scenes are introduced it transitions to a more animated style or a mixture of both (pixel/retro style).

All of this really did a lot for me, I never got bored, lost interest, or felt I began to get stuck in some type of tunnel vision. All of these elements playing together felt right and most of all getting in to my second point it played well with how the story was delivered.

2 Story
Everyone is different and of course you'd have to make your own assessment of the story so know that this explanation will probably be the most biased. By the general description of SIGNALIS I feel you get enough information on what you're getting in to, additionally from the screenshots/videos you can understand there is going to be some mystery to unravel. Personally I've completed the game once as of right now and it's hopefully not to much of a spoiler but there are multiple endings to SIGNALIS . Without even having to accidentally give away a detail or two just know that everything will not be laid out for you, especially if you don't take your time.

If you end up enjoying what the story has to offer just know that it won't end immediately for you, for me that was comforting as I still don't have all the details down myself. If you like the world being at it's wits end, having to use your brain here an there, (and even if your not a good shot) still being somewhat accurate with your aim then be more confident in this being just right for you.

3 Gameplay / Coherence
The first thing you'd expect, and no I'm even talking about when you're about to get scared, is some sort of tutorial on how to work things. After doing my bingo checklist for why I should a game my next focus is how it walks me into to the gameplay. No I don't want a call of duty run through while someone holds my hand but I don't necessarily want to be thrown to the wolves either. Without falling far into either of those directions as you tread along you are given story and key details at the same time that highlight how to use what you are given.

It got me giddy to notice this as well, but they don't just give you 50 notifications on screen to press C to crouch but thoughtfully tie these instructions in to the environment. Like you're being led with a carrot you don't notice you find yourself upon notes/items that make that light bulb pop up above your head and lead you in the right direction. Don't know if that does it for you, but it does it for me.

CONCLUSION

I could go on to say there are so many more elements to comment about that I definitely ran across that made me say "ah!" and "ooo!". If you want a good horror mystery (with not too too much horror), a style that keeps you entertained, and definite replay value I can surely say SIGNALIS is for you (or maybe not, buy and play it anyway though).

P.S
Thank you rose-engine, this game is phenomenal.
