Pros
Squishy peasants go splat
Intuitive UI (Clicking Unlock All in the Tutorial tab helped me out)
Impressively fleshed out classes and Races
Once you get to level three you really start to feel power and it only goes up from there

Cons
Facing visibility is a tiny chore at first
Finding a grindstone is a must
Damn those Human Soldiers around spawn

Although a lot of people say that it's a money grab (which it kind of is) Crusader Kings 2 is a good game even without any DLC. Even though it's not necessarily needed I would suggest getting The Old Gods if you are into pagans, Conclave if you are into politics, and Sons of Abraham if you are into Holy wars and the Pope etc.
