Early Access Review
Despite what other players have said, this game is NOT like Ace Combat. Firstly, flying in this game feels like you're tied to a sewing machine that's about to fall off a ledge. Flying felt like I was fighting against my aircraft, rather than working with it. Engaging other aircraft and ground targets felt like a slog. Enemy AA and missiles whack you and there's not much you can do. Using countermeasures is like putting out a wildfire with a squirtgun. Missions offer no checkpoints or restart: if you ♥♥♥♥ up, you gotta go back to the menu. Missions also do not offer easy, medium, or hard difficulty, you just get thrown in. The tutorial is a total cop-out, being pretty much useless. Instead of telling you what buttons do what ingame, it tells you to check your bindings. Following this, the text for the tutorials is in this tiny ♥♥♥♥-off box in the corner that disappears too fast to be read. Finally, the tutorial doesn't tell you anything about how weapons work or what the things in your cockpit/HUD do/or mean. After this "tutorial," feel free to hop in and get curbstomped by enemies. I shouldn't have to bring in some abstract notion 'common sense' or some other bs to play a game I haven't played before. That's the whole point of a tutorial is, which does not exist here. There is no teaching you how to outmaneuver other planes, how to lob bombs, how to lead targets. I shouldn't have to keep jumping into the woodchipper each time to figure out how to play. Wait a year or play something else, this game isn't worth it as it stands.
