Reviewing based on pre-Steam version. It's like Dicey Dungeons, except with cards instead of dice and with greater variety and complexity. Devs are very responsive to community ideas.

An excellent twist on the crowded rogue-like deckbuilder genre.

Pros:
- Every battle matters: followers get wounded / dead, and damage you take is hard to heal.
- For veterans of the genre: "Doomed" difficulty is aptly named and available from the beginning (or maybe after one run or something? I don't remember). (As opposed to many other games in the genre, which make you grind your way through tons of way-too-easy "prestige levels" before finally reaching a challenge.)

Random nitpicky cons:
- The AI sometimes does blindingly stupid moves, like using up a +1 energy card when it has nothing to spend the energy on. (The game is still *difficult* enough even with the AI shooting itself in the foot; it's just somewhat immersion breaking.)
- Choosing one exploration option at a location can lock another one in a way that both makes no thematic sense and also just feels mean (e.g. it turned out that I didn't even meet the requirements for the option I picked to be at all useful).
- In combat the followers in your deck are in the most danger, but outside of combat the ones not in your deck are. This means that to optimize for a follower not getting wounded (or alternatively, to fully use a follower as a meat shield), you have to swap them in/out of your deck before/after every combat. (I don't do this because it's annoying work for little gain; it's just unfortunate that optimal play would make you do it.)

Way too easy for a veteran of the genre. Yes I know there are many "Prestige levels" and so if I grind through enough easy ones I'd probably eventually reach something that could challenge me. But screw grinding - why should I have to waste my time like that? Give me a button labeled "Skip me to the hardest level, I WANT TO LOSE", and the game might be fun.

May be worth playing if you are desperate for more games like The Witness but have already played all the best ones.

I quickly found myself avoiding enemies just because combat wasn't fun.
