Pretty, but not much else going for it.

Overall a pretty good puzzle game.
Cons:
- if you don't complete a level with all 3 memory blocks then you have to redo it all to collect the missing ones
- the website you unlock at 100% seems to be broken?
- a few puzzles are unusually stupid (looking at you, 8-6)

Not a strong recommendation. When this tries to be a puzzle game, it mostly succeeds - there were some novel mechanics and some puzzles that took advantage of those mechanics. But I think when it tries to be Art, it mostly fails, and drags down the puzzle part too.

More than in any other game I've played, information is truly everything, so I can't figure out what I can safely say except that it is beautiful and unique and has my highest recommendation, and that if exploring mysteries in space sounds even slightly appealing then you should read nothing else and start playing.

tl;dr: It's a less good Outer Wilds.

First, various problems:
- My single biggest complaint is that this game is not respectful of my time, i.e. everything proceeds at a snail's pace: walking, sailing, the unskippable story recap whenever you launch the game, etc.
- The interface is frequently frustrating and occasionally glitchy - e.g. I saw no way to cancel setting sail, ruins would sometimes disappear from the map when I tried to click on them, and while your robot will occasionally ask whether you want to leave the current moon (yes = fast travel out of there), I saw no way to trigger that dialog so if you instead want to leave ten seconds later you have a long walk back to your ship.
- The core translation puzzle is repetitive and arbitrary: I just took my best guess at words and then it never felt like I learned anything whether right or wrong.

Now the overall idea is still pretty cool, but unfortunately for this game that's where Outer Wilds shows up. OW is the obvious comparison - in both games you are a space archaeologist flying/'sailing' between planets/'moons' and translating ancient texts towards a main goal of collecting knowledge. And on an absolute scale this game might actually be good, but Outer Wilds just has it so consistently beat in every department that I can't play this game after that one. OW doesn't have the problems listed above, its 'rumor mode' is far easier to use than this game's 'timelines', its 'open world' is way more truly open than this one, and, more subjectively, it has better music and a better story. So yeah, go play Outer Wilds instead.

Controller integration is terrible: jump button and color-wheel activation don't work half the time, which makes the game unplayable. (I'm using a Switch controller which has worked fine with other games.)
