As a complete newcomer to Civ, and any other games with bigger scale strategic layers, - I can wholeheartedly recommend this game as an entry point - It teaches a lot of mechanics in an organic way and even whilst I don't understand all of my actions and their consequences (yet), it is simply a joy to interact with the sights, sounds and roleplaying aspect of growing the empires
