This game is definitely not for everyone, it is a walking simulator done by an independant company.

However, if you are able to overlook this you will find a gem like no other of such a genre: game mechanics that take to a new level the concept of "darkness" how the players create their own story in their mind as the game progresses by hinting and giving that push to continue in such a great combination of simple yet effective visuals.

This walking simulator enthralls its audience with its beautiul aesthetic and suprising mechanic. The scanner feels great to use and makes you follow the game pace to your own accord, for example: if you are the type to go through the story as fast as posible you are given the chance, gathering only the limited visuals you need with the scanner. On the other hand if you prefer to go throughout the beautiful landscape discovering every detail and just admiring the great work that was put in it you can as it is rewarding in both cases previously stated.

Lastly, the soundtrack and sound in this game is absolutely beautiful. The composer made sure to transmit the feelings of each moment in the game perfectly. And even after finishing the game you will have the OST added to your steam game folder with a great comentary of the composer adding the reasoning why he put such a great work on it.

Truly, Scanner Sombre msut be taken as a reference of creativity and hard work of a great Indie company that delivers impressive and varied content. As a game developer in the making I aplaud this game for moving me and giving me a chance to truly believe that I am inside a cave with nothing more than my thoughts, a story to tell and a scanner.
