I got more hours of play from yet another EA abandonware game called "The Dead Linger". I wholeheartedly regret paying full price for this game that basically feels like an overpriced demo. The devs cried throughout the whole developement process about the whole "but we are just 2 people :C" schtick when look at games that kick this ones shoddy ass like Underrail and Unturned both of which were 1 dev teams making games that actually had real content. These guys should maybe just look into doing some spooky asmr type ♥♥♥♥ since that is one of the very few things this hot mess of a game has going for it. Definitely adding this crew to the list of reasons we need some quality control and overall the ability to full on block "devs". I will change this if they ever give it a real story or an actual endgame besides "I grinded the same scenarios and now have one of eveything". I woud say if these devs ever try another game after this that they take a look at some other games that have come up with creative solutions to be able to revive funding to be able to finish developement, from cosmetics to art and music, to even developer commentary there are people fanatical about just about anything to where they could have gotten a bit of an economic boost to be able to actually continue on this. Any future EA titles from this gang would be a hard ass pass, but if they ever actually got their ♥♥♥♥ together and made a real finished project I think they could actually make a real good game, sadly that is not the case with this one.
Tldr: Buy this on sale for at least half-price because you are buying a half-baked game.

Even though fishing is now ruined, the rest of the game is still p good.

More balanced than Darkest Dungeon.

Went from barely to completely unplayable with alpha 18.

Not only are the robots still in the game but they made Abom even more cancerous and annoying to face.

Built from the ground up to be nothing but pure frustration from install to uninstall. I got this out of a humble bundle and still feel ripped off that they included this trash in there. Did all the requirements of an event for no rewards and also am currently dealing with a known for years issue of a random♥♥♥♥♥banker in Daggerfall who sometimes just never shows up. Just save yourself time and money and just go mod Skyrim instead.

Update: Apparently I didn't fulfill the requirements of "kill any monster" despite having an achievement a day after the event started for defeating a Lurcher boss. According to support I am full of ♥♥♥♥ on this so I guess that settles the matter of this game being nothing more than a scam.

At least Riot and Valve put out when they do events even if it is just garbage.

Really wish they had a middle ground option for rating this game because I like the idea of it, but the price combined with how little gameplay there is as well as how reliant the game is on outside communication methods kills it for me since all it does is allows you to watch chat get spammed by 5 beautiful mustache prostidudes and people who pretty much just show up and die within 20 minutes. This game really would benefit more from going to a f2p model and charging for cosmetics and additional stamina potions rather than the current system of paying for a game that pretty much plays itself and encourages you to actively stay off of it so you don't waste resources. Maybe it will be worth it down the road but at least for me it seems to be too much for too little.

My playtime is messed up because my internet has been wonky which brings up a positive of being able to play this game offline with no issues. I currently have beat the tutorial, tale of brothers, and am halfway through the South Guard campaign if anybody wanted to know which makes me feel at least semi-qualified to bring up the next batch of praises and issues.

Pros:
You can level up, choose the upgrade path for, and rename units as well as having a bit of difference between them with randomized traits.
Decent artwork and character descriptions for a free game.
Characters carry over between missions via the recall feature.

Stories I played were fun and didn't seem to drag on too long like other games.

Heroes are pointless due to bad rng making them a free loss should they ever be engaged.
Did I mention the rng in this game is bad?


Honestly I wish there was a mixed button because this game actually has rng to rival even Darkest Dungeon with no amount of planning and skill able to make up for having to back to turn 20 times because your character with an 80% chance to hit and 3 attacks still can't land 1 hit to finish off the enemy who meanwhile hits every attack on you with 40% chance to hit, ON THE EASIEST DIFFICULTY btw. Seriously the balance of this game is an absolute dumpster fire compared to even the first Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics which at least had ways to incorporate skill and thought into making the rng less of an issue.

TLDR:
Good for a free game, get used to rng being king and don't go in expecting this to actually have tactical depth.

Only played a little bit so far and it already is way better than Dark Souls 2 to me in all ways except one, this game has some of the worst hitboxes and broken animations of any game I have seen in a while. This game has been out for a good long while now and enemies still can magically phase weapons through stairs and walls and other surfaces that block your weapons. It also is extremely bs when you have enemies go full spaghetti and somehow extend their arms in order to attack you through whoever you are currently fighting.
Overall it's generally a good experience when it isn't forcing me to learn all of the different areas enemies can magically hit me through.

Wish they had a mixed reccommendation for this since the price is really the only reason I don't agree with this, especially since all this is half a game meant to be partnered with Total Warhammer 2. I got this game from Humble Bundle monthly so you could either say I spent 0 or 12 dollars on it, either of which is relatively negligible. The issue for me however is that most of this dlc feels like a scam pricewise and costs the actual price of the game overall to try to complete the game. Comparing this game overall to Shogun Total War 2 really shows how much Sega has really fallen since not only was Shogun 2 half the cost of this game, but what you pay for 1 faction could get you two whole campaigns with actual new stuff that really changed how the game felt. With Shogun Total War 2 I pre-ordered the dlcs and was excited since they all were good and actually added stuff to the game, meanwhile I dread having to get the dlcs for this game simply because I know under no circumstances will my enjoyment equal the price since this game is now stuck with no support since they already shovelled out the next installment. Basically, this game is only worth it if you can get it at a huge discount and wrangle together all the dlc together in the process. At this point you might just be better off waiting for Total War Warhammer 5 and buying everything in a 500 buck package so you can get the "full experience" as Sega intended.
