Playing with fire is fun. But, apparently, also by turns disturbing, emotional, and horrifying. Buy things, set them on fire, repeat. Play at your own pace. Attempt to complete the challenges by working out what things need to be burned simultaneously. Each item does something different and surprising when burned. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

No, I would not recommend Monaco. The central conceit (crazy coordinated four player heists) is let down by an awful UI that does a very poor job of highlighting important information. The chunky graphical style actively obfuscates the action rather than simplifies it. And the game can't decide whether it's about exciting well-executed heists or crazy everything-goes-wrong capers, and is thus poor at promoting either.
