Holy mother of Halo ODST on crack. YES.

The only thing thats negative about my review and view of the game, what I really dont understand is how they are not taking out the obvious cheaters from the ranklist of the stratagem hero game, you get from this DLC. 999.999 points? Yeah I doubt it.

So, what needs to be done here is showing only friend´s points in the stratagem hero game with the option to see world ranks, as I understand you can not ban every cheater. But I would actually like to know how good I did without seeing a complete list of most likely cheaters.

So as a DLC, very much deserved, I love the game and if you want to support the war effort, go for it. But at least make the thing you give for paying extra, work and fun. Please.

And yes, its not a huge deal and Im only one here complaining but its such a small change that would make me have alot more fun.

Where do I start with this one..

Im disappointed.

Lets best start it off with, when I play an atmospheric game, I want to immerse myself in the lore and I do want to read up on certain things, in this particularly, the Anomalies. Those are interessting enough and the scan system works well, if you look at stuff you can scan it and then you unlock a codex entry which you can read up on, in theory, like Subnautica. (For the sake of comparison)

What I do not expect, need or even want to read when I scan a cool new anomaly, is this, word for word found as an entry for an anomaly:
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyy this is Annaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I´m totally going so faaaaaaaaaaaaaast right now! Oh no! Oh noooooo!.." -it goes on like this for quite some time and I hope you excuse me for the sake of you and myself, not writing all of that down. You should get the jist tho.

I do enjoy alot of different type of games and seemingly I have no standarts, if you judge by my library, but what I really dont enjoy is when I actively lose brain cells, trying to decipher information out of the dumpster fire codex entries of Pacific Drive, and I actually believe this game set the new lowest bar for codex entries for me. As a small example, I saw a flying robot thingy and thought: "Imma scan that little clunker and find out what it is" and thats what I did, what I expected was an entry that tells me about what it appears to be, maybe even some personal notes or theories of one of the 3 voice actors barraging your eardrums with badly written dialogue, that all have a scientific background, of which they tell you about but not behave like or talk like. But no, Im dead serious here, what you get is a huge text from random people in that universe having a random boring conversation where they, briefly, somewhere in the middle state "it pushed our car away". So you have to read all of that boring random garbage conversation to find out, if at all, what the thing you scanned is or what it does. I hate this. I actually literally despise it and I dont understand what kind of people look at this and go "Yep, this is fine.".

What I also couldnt handle was the sometimes cringe but mostly just un-interessting and constant blabbering of the people through the radio. They are extremely annoying and extremely, painfully cringe. Theres nothing there that grips me or immerses me into the setting of the world. I tried turning off dialogue and subtitles but then you miss mission critical information as the mission HUD is sometimes not updating your current objective or simply not good enough, so the cringe talking had to continue, great.

So there I was, being stimulated by bad voice acting paired with bad writing, bad world building and dry gameplay mechanics, I finally decided that I would invest my money into something else. Oh and btw, this is a game where you loot about, lets say, 90% of the time. Would an option for looting the entire container be a good idea, practical even? Yes. Is that option in the game? No, it is not. At least not for people that use a controller. I feel like the people working on this title never played a video game before.

Also on a personal note, the songs on the radio seriously suck. But that might me my personal taste at fault here.

1.0 update ruined it for me.

Reborn mechanic lost all meaning and theres no real incentive for playing all the missions.

Im not some bottom sub BDSM enjoyer that actively wants to waste time, its a reward I want to get.

Edit:
They left the Beta now for real with the newest update, its sadly just too late. Now the majority of the playerbase already maxed out everything and left a while ago.

Its also hilarious that they unironically named this update "Season 1" while they already had a Season 1 with Bio Hazard. So, while I am overall happy we try to ignore everything that happened from 1.0 to now, its just leaving a bad taste in my mouth and I wish they wouldve done it sooner.

Can you please get a person and put it in charge of balancing? Because if you have the position already filled, you should fire and sue that person.

The easiest of the difficulties give EXACTLY the same amount of rewards as the standart difficulty. In what ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world is that acceptable? While the very hardest of the difficulties only gives you a pittiful amount more. This is not fun and it should not be like that for a finished product, this is what the beta shouldve been for.

For me this review still is going to remain negative. The only way I am going to turn it positive again, is if they bite the bullet, say they are sorry and reset everyones game progress so that we can all finally play the game as it was meant to be played all along.

Easy solution for the difficulty. Make it level relevant. Its insane to me that its not like that already. For example:

As a level 1, easiest mission difficulty should reward you with a standart amount of stamps and exp, while every mission above that difficulty should give progressively less rewards to prevent people from spamming easy missions or being carried through by higher level players. Meaning, that system would also work the other way around, a level 70 player should only get normal amount of stamps and exp by doing the highest 2 difficulties, as they already maxed out their skills and should have enough experience in the game by now, and in turn they should get progressively less rewards the lower they go in difficulty.

The only other solution would be lowering the rewards significantly for lower difficulties and significantly raising the rewards for the higher difficulties to give an incentive to play harder difficulties.

Another thing that has to change is the level cap situation. Every few months or so they raise it 5 levels wich you make in one play session. After that the only thing you can do is grind for the stamps you get every mission, wich as above stated is badly balanced. So you will just spam the easiest difficulty in wich, ironically, the hard part is not to fall asleep. If you do play on higher difficulties a mission will take you around 3 times longer but you only get like 2 or 3 stamps more.

I say, make a prestige level similar to payday2 where you can reset at max level to gain one prestige level, shown next to your actual level. That would at least help with the longterm motivation.

Next thing is the letter performance grade from A+ to F. You should always get an exp and stamp bonus by completing a mission on A+. Currently theres no point in this system except for getting an A+ in some missions once to unlock a poster and some smaller things, wich is extremely unrewarding, especially for people that played before last update as we already have the rewards.

Also Ive seen countless people that already reborn more than two hundret times prior to this update and they just farmed the easiest mission over a weekend to do so, now the reborn mission gets progressively harder and they basically YET AGAIN ruined every meaning the mechanic had, they seriously took away rewards for doing the new and HARD reborn missions. Its insane. In case you missed it: "ZERO REWARDS"

Additinally Id like to state, the old system where you had trials theme based in different therapy programs, they started more easy and got harder while the last one was always a big and tough mission. When you did the program you got themed rewards and a poster. Nice mechanic.

Now, its just random trials every week and you only get 9. They are randomly mixed in there so you cant play all trials and you cant play your favorite ones. Its just insane how someone could change that like this. Wich actually makes me wonder, they cahnged the game in a major way AFTER full release, doesnt this make players who bought it before, eligible for refunds? I somehow remember reading that if a game changes drastically after early access, you have a claim to a refund, wich ofc I wouldnt want, Id rather have the game back in working order when it was fun.

Overall its just a cheaper version of "Will To Live" with minecraft graphics. Now if you prefer Minecraft graphics over proper ones then Im sure you will have a cool time with this game but its just the same grindey-pay-to-play like alot of the games in this genre. At least in Will to Live you have proper looting and AI paths for the enemys.

Shouldve honestly done something with the minecraft esc style like beeing able to build your own camp or beeing able to dig holes, but nah its just loot, shoot and lose everything because the enemy player bases are way too close to yours wich makes the quests just tideous.

-Actually, theres no loot because the player count is too high, map is too small and loot respawn is too long. So its just clicking through the boring generic quests and running from one path to another hoping you dont die to a random group of paying high level players.
