The community has seen a complete and total breakdown of trust in the devs. Not just the endless nerfs to anything that's even remotely effective or fun, but continually claiming "this is unintended" to something that was part of a given weapon since before it even became officially available to all players and for weeks or months afterwards.
The idea of actually playing their own game has been openly mocked. In a livestream, the developers clearly had no idea what they were doing.
It is, at best, an abusive relationship. Don't fall into abusive relationships.

As of writing this review, Darktide is a fantastic, if horribly unstable and crash-prone, early access title. The core gameplay is very fun, though many systems such as crafting are currently missing or not fully functional, and other features such as some character building options don't yet work as intended or at all. Major balance patches and overhauls have happened and are still happening, and there's many controversial or downright despised design decisions such as how the weapon shop and mission selection screens work, or the entirety of the weekly quest system. There's also little to no story after the prologue, just some brief and very repetitive cutscenes, but I'm sure they'll write in more before launch.
...
Wait, what do you mean this game had an official release? There's a fully functioning cash shop? It's not early access, despite being very feature incomplete and unstable?

In all seriousness: The game launched in a downright inexcusable state. Lessons that could have and should have been learned from both previous Vermintide games were actively ignored, and nearly every part of the game's design revolves around 'player retention' and possibly encouraging people to engage in microtransactions.
1) Gearing up requires hourly checking of the in-game shop, which to access requires walking up to it in the hub. Conveniently, it is directly next to the microtransaction shop!
2) Entirely random missions with no meaningful way to choose which one to do. You have a random, cycling selection of maps, with a difficulty that's already set, that may or may not have modifiers you need for doing your weeklies. If you played Payday 2 early on, it's like that, but somehow worse.
3) The as-of-yet-incomplete crafting and item upgrade system will be, from what's currently in the game and what's been previewed, excessively RNG focused with strange limitations and escalating costs that ultimately continue to encourage the first bulletpoint.
4) The microtransactions themselves launched in a terrible state. You have to buy special premium currency in fixed amounts, that don't match up to the prices in the store, before you're allowed to buy anything there. It also had cycling timers on what was available to trigger Fear-Of-Missing-Out, though that appears to be gone now.

Even outside of predatory design, the game itself is still unstable, crash-happy, buggy, and broken. It'll be running just fine all mission, then suddenly crash to desktop. You often won't be able to reconnect in time, thus entirely losing whatever progress you made. Hit detection is questionable at best, client-side you'll see gigantic plumes of blood and the sounds of successfully hitting an enemy, only for them to not take any damage. Enemies blink into existence right before your eyes, directly behind you, inside you, fire through solid walls, and so on.

Fun as it is, tearing through hordes of enemies in a team with glorious music and sound design through lovingly crafted (albeit repetitive) environments, I can't recommend it. Check back in six months to two years. I'll probably keep playing it myself, honestly.

I want to play this game again, but I can't. They destroyed the entire point of Stellaris for 'competitive balance', removing the assymetry of FTL and weaponry. Now it's just another, typical strategy game with a space paintjob rather than an actual space game.
Bring back the old FTL.

It constantly breaks and crashes. The tutorial rarely works, menus often stop responding, missions keep freezing up.

I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone who enjoys story and/or puzzles. Jesus christ it's amazing. That's all I can really say on it without spoiling.

Early Access Review
Everyone's giving it a bad review for the DLC. Really though, that's not the issue. The issue is that the game itsellf is... well, as I put it to some friends:
It constantly sics hordes and hordes of extremely powerful aggressive hostiles on us, most of the systems in it are at best annoying to 'manage', it constantly disconnects, it leaves you unconcious when you log off rather than having you disappear, it takes insane amounts of resources to do anything, the weight of things follows no rhyme or reason.

I could go on.

The game is just annoying. It does have its times of fun, yes, but in general is just annoying. It's not survival, it's "hope to god you don't suddenly get killed by a mob of inexplicably hostile carnivores." And that's not even touching the PvP.

Starts off awkward.
Soon has you battle a space station that dances while it's being carpet nuked.
10/10 best 3D space sim.
