If you're someone like me who was intrigued by the high acclaim of the steam reviews, interesting enigmatic product description, and alluring art style, I can say with full confidence that while killer7 does well to bring you in initially, it does very little to keep you there.

While the art style, sound effects, and soundtrack (which is seldom used), are objectively fantastic, the 'gameplay' loop does not warrant trudging through in order experience the intentionally cryptic & esoteric storyline. Especially as the story does not resolve into anything satisfactory, bring about a truly unforeseen twist, or even keep you wanting more. The story ending in an 'ok' way in it of itself is not what I would say to dissuade people from playing this: it is the gameplay that truly is atrocious,

You walk ceaselessly down hallways and are subjected to long winded, slow & ostensibly useless dialogue, just so you can bemoan the intermittent rail shooter segment and solve a 'puzzle' which is just more walking to and fro. Upgrading your characters feels like nothing happens aside from the interspersed new ability, most of which are functionally useless as the entire game is just shooting a weak spot. Add in the 'boss' fights, one of which is basically cookie clicker, and you have killer7 gameplay surmised.

I recommend just reading up on it, watching a vid or two and not wasting your time.
