I don't understand how this can be a best seller in the resource management genre. The game is very poorly balanced with there being a cookie cutter method to expand and utilize resources the most efficiently. The game gives you like 5 options to do something and 1 is far better than the rest. You could take the other 4 options for role play purposes, which brings me to perhaps the game's biggest problem: your actions are meaningless. Despite being called "surviving mars" there is no survival aspect to the game at all. It's almost sandbox-like in terms of challenge or difficulty to accomplish... anything. The addition of the terraforming DLC did a little to alleviate this, but there still really isn't any challenge or obstacle to you achieving whatever goal you set for yourself (because the game certainly doesn't give you any goals). You can turn on environmental hazards, but those are either "you survive with no damage" or "everyone dies" with almost no in between. When I bought this game, I was hoping for something similar to Frostpunk, a resource management colony sim that's all about surviving in a hostile environment that's trying to kill you. Sounds exactly what a Mars colony sim with "surviving" in the name ought to be, doesn't it? If you like pure sandbox games with resource management elements and no consequences for any actions you take, such as games like cities skylines, this game is for you. If you want a colony sim/ resource management with any challenge or goals, try Frostpunk or Rimworld or even Stellaris.

buggy as hell and crashes constantly. otherwise would be a great game. And don't forget, if your game crashes, that's YOUR FAULT and you WILL be issued penalty after penalty for "abandoning the game"

After finally finishing the tutorial (1000 hours) I can say that this game is a blast! It's a ton of fun, I love it to death, and has infinite replayability. Just watch out for the dlc's though. There are a lot of them and they are super necessary but they are pretty cheap when they go on sale. Occasionally Paradox really ♥♥♥♥♥ up updates/dlc like that have currently done with Leviathan. It's pretty game breaking, but hopefully this is a one off.

Fantastic game by a very small studio. Lots of potential to get a lot better. Currently the game is not very well optimized, and sadly there is no multiplayer functionality (several friends who would have bought the game changed their mind when they found there is no multiplayer option). Also other reviews have pointed out that the game can indeed feel a bit lifeless at times, but the game tries to focus on the macro, and it does this extremely well. Things like the fully simulated economy are very well executed.

Friend bought this for me and I can't play the game. I have no mouse in the main menu, and using a controller to start a game results in the camera always pointing downward. I uninstalled Vjoy and still have the issue

Honestly probably the best game to ever exist. I barely know what the ♥♥♥♥ I'm doing though lol. I wish I could get more into it, but it is sadly a game that struggles with introducing new players.

Fantastic game. Easily the best Fallout. Kinda buggy tho. Would really like to see a remastered version with modern graphics & bug fixes

Honestly this one is definitely a classic. I'd consider Planetside to be one of the most under-appreciated games on Steam.

Used to be one of the best games Valve ever created, and the overhaul of the behavior score system worked really well at first, but about a couple months ago from the time of this review, Dota got TOXIC. I've always been at 10k behavior score, yet over the last few months, literally about 50% of games have had someone absurdly toxic. And by absurdly toxic, I mean running down lanes feeding intentionally, racial slurs, deleting items, baiting me just so I die and then walking away while laughing in voice chat, etc. The list goes on. This was never an issue before, but it's been literally like half my games over the last 2 months. ALL of which at 10k behavior score with the post game saying "behavior scores: similar"
I do not understand what's happening with this game, but I'll have to be taking a break from dota (and not recommending this game) until this problem is solved.

This game is cancerous. Its terrible. Granted, it has the potential to be one of the best games out there. But for now, its full of Chinese hackers. If you want to be the best player out there, and still lose because you play fair, then this game is for you.
