Start the game as a custom made King of England. I'm at war with Norway and the Bastard from Normandy (no, seriously he has the title "the Bastard"), Norway has 12,000 troops. The Bastard has 6,000 in some ships off-shore. I have 6,000. Raise levies, that's an extra 2,000. Marry off first daughter to the King of Navarre. He sends 2,000 troops. Marry son to Princess of Scotland. Then kill off her dad and brother. Son inherits Scotland. That's 4,000 more troops. At this point I'm like hell yeah I can do this. Get notification that my character and son were killed in battle w/ Norways army and game ends.

10/10 would forget to move my army again.

But in all seriousness, this is a fantastic game. Albeit with a steep learning curve (I had to start/restart multiple campaigns each time I learned something new that would have helped earlier [whether that be a feature or option I could have chosen, etc. that I didn't know about]), this is an immensely entertaining experience.
BTW: If you're hesitant to get the major DLC's, GET THEM! Yeah, I know they probably should have come with the original game, but even so, they make the game so much more fun! Same goes for the smaller ones, but they aren't what I would call necessary, although they do add to the immersiveness (Unit Packs ftw!)
