The game is in an absolute awful state. All from cheaters, massive amount of bugs to just an awful comunity (both from the survivor side and killer comunity).

It also doesn't help that it's possibly the worst meta yet. Camping and tunneling uesd to be some nuisance from time to time. Now you'll probably play 20 games before you find a killer that doesn't use it as his whole strat. Killers got buffs after buffs, patch after patch. Unless you're a 4 man it's extremely killer sided now with no downside to literally just stand just off range of the hook and get a free down for each switch. Rinse and repeat, free 3 man. No skill required. Can be done on all killers, possible 4 man at gate.
It's a single loop for the first survivor found and then the rest of the gameplay is just work on generator and trade on hook. Even the gen slow meta and the three gen camp was more fun than this.

For anyone saying oh this is just cause you're a survivor. I used to be a killer main that got bored from all the amount of buffs we got. Unless I went against a four man it straight up fealt unsatisfying cause how easy it was. All my favorite killers that needed maybe a small overhall got so buffed their identity changed.

It also doesn't help that the devs are absolutely awful, does their best to stop players from reporting cheaters and doesn't take into account anything the comunity says. They recently gave up on stopping tunneling and camping cause they failed miserably over and over again. They straight up came out with a statement that can be shorted to "We don't know how to deal with it, so it's now just a part of the game. You deal with it. We do no longer see it as an exploit that needs to be fixed."
Even the most devoted streamers/content creators has given up on their contact with the beHavior cause as they say them selves. They straight up don't care/don't listen. We have PBEs to test out stuff and even for everything wrong we call out it still gets through and stays on the live servers, sometimes for months.

Masterpiece of a game, one of my favorite games of all time.
I absolutely recommend this game, I can assure you it will be a fun time.

WARNING: The game does have two major recurring bugs. It's easily fixed but annoying when it happens.

1. uPlay:
Same issue as AC2. Delete uPlay and download Ubisoft Connect, the newest version, from Ubisofts website. You should now be able to launch the game without issue.

2. FPS affecting climbing:
For some reason certain ledges that are necessary to climb to proceed are unclimbable when above 60 fps. To fix this, just set fps to 60 in graphics options for a short period of time while you get past the issue.
Edit: The bug affects more than just ledges. A cinematic for a boss fight wouldn't start before I changed the fps. A certain side mission where you dodge canon shot seemed impossible until I realized their aiming speed was correlated to the fps, so they locked on real fast with 165 fps. It doesn't happen too often. But if you ever get stuck somewhere, try to change the fps and see if it gets easier/ if you can proceed.

Sorry for my bad English as it's not my first language. I hope the review was helpful and that you'll enjoy the game just as much as I did. It's truly an amazing game.

An absolute masterpiece, a game I can recommend to almost anyone.
The game is baffling for the time it came out. And it still runs great and has great mechanics for today's standards.
Gameplay is fun, characters charming, story interesting and the world bigger and more filled out than most open world games that are bragging about its size.
I was absolutely hooked from start to finish.

If I were to come with any complaint it would be that the story drags on a bit too long towards the end. But other than that this game is perfect. As someone that only played AC Brotherhood and AC 3 growing up I did not expect this game to be as good as it was. It was a real pleasant surprise.

Also for anyone wanting to play with controller. It says controller not supported. But I just plugged it in and went into game and had no issue. Didn't install anything, didn't have to change settings like in AC1. It just instantly worked.

Edit: I remembered now a second issue. Since the servers got shut down there's been an issue getting into the game. uPlay will ask you to either log in or create an account, non are viable since it can't connect to anything. This is easily fixed by deleting uPlay and downloading Ubisoft Connect from Ubisofts website which is the newest version of uPlay.
Please don't let this little anoyance stop you from playing this amazing game, it really is worth it.

The first Assassin's Creed is an old nostalgia bomb that introduced a lot of the mechanics we're very used to by now in every open world game. If it's your first attempt at any Asssassin's Creed game I might actually advice you to skip it.
Two reasons; One, while it truly stood out among previous games of its era it can feel clunky and lackluster for those that are more used to newer generations of games. The story also doesn't stand enough out to make up for this.
Two, there're several bugs that makes the game unplayable before you've done several fixes. I'll explain how to fix these.
But if you're someone that enjoys and appreciate older games for what they brought, and how they inspired future generations of games. And you prefer to play the game rather than watch a youtube video about it, for those looking for a playthrough of the entire series. Then I can for sure recommend it.

Fixes:
First: Download DXSETUP. It's supposed to happen automatic but since they shut down the servers it for some reason either skips doing so or just goes into a never ending download that you just have to cancel in the end. To do the download without issues go into files
"this PC">Program Files(x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Assassin's Creed>DirectX
There you should find DXSETUP if you scroll a bit, double click and follow steps given to download.

Second: This is for those that want to play with a controller, which I assume is most. First you have to connect the controller to steam, search steam controller setup on Google. Afterwards it should be a box on the right side of steam mentioning configurations and that it's connected. However this is not enough, you now have to go into the game. Make a save file and then change the settings of said save file where you have to switch from keyboard/controller to just controller as input to make it work at all. I'll also advice you to change the button layouts if it's not put up correctly, at least I had that issue. Looking around where on certain buttons instead of joystick, attack, freerun and grapple was flipped.etc

Third: Since the servers got shut down there's been a huge issue with the game just freezing up every 20-30 seconds for 5-10 seconds. Kinda destroys the enjoyment of the game. It's however easily fixed in a kinda annoying way. You simply have to be disconnected from the internet while playing. The reason is as long as you are connected to the internet, the game will continue to try and connect to its servers. As earlier mentioned, theses servers doesn't exist anymore, which leads to the game continuously freezing whenever it tries to ping for something that doesn't exist.

Hope this review was helpful, and sorry for any bad grammar as English is not my first language.

Amazing gameplay, great artistic direction and alot of fun... when it works.
Because of the enforced connection to EA servers there hasn't been a single play session without two hours of just trying to connect and join eachothers session. It's really sad to call such a great game unplayable when it deserves all love in the world had it not been a EA ♥♥♥♥ up of servers being down constantly
