I bought this game based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I feel like these reviews were largely purchased. It should be said that I am only 7 hours into the game and these are my impressions so far. If my opinions change I will either revise or delete this review.

1. Story Line - So far the story is poorly written although the concept is interesting, there are a lot of places where it doesn't make any logical sense. Dialogue is tough to sit through and is not engaging at all. You literally spend more time in cut scenes and optional scenes then the game itself.

2. Art - The game looks pretty good for the most part. Similar to phone games that cross platform.

3. Game play - combat system could have been better conceived. there are a lot of things that are left unknown to you in terms of determining quality of abilities, Damage and timing. The game world is very linear and straight forward. Even "secrets" aren't really hidden. Encounters are not random and as such will require you to grind to catch up if you skip things. The crafting system is trash.

Ultimately the game could have been much better. Half the reviews i've read don't actually seem to have played the game, even if there are hundreds of hours "Played". Play this game if you want to watch a graphic novel with a poorly executed story line in which you make no choices that further the story and the entire game is predetermined and highly controlled. I've played more NES games with choices then this game has.

Early Access Review
Co-op up to 4 players. Similar to FTL. fun gameplay, active devs. Worth the money for sure.

I along with my co-op partner were the top leader board players for OMD2. We have spent huge amounts of hours on all of robot’s games. OMD3 could have and may still become excellent. I am hopeful, robot has notoriously not listened to the community in the past. Google paid for the development of OMD3 for stadia which flopped. The game at over a year old is buggy, lacks new content (new expac is announced), trap balance, map quality and diversity of playstyle, poor coop support, lack of good matchmaking ability or being able to see your partners build. The leaderboards are filled with hackers and the game is missing some key quality of life features that people have been begging for. I feel like they put a lot of work into OMD3 with a very limited staff as compared to OMD2 which had a much stronger robot behind it.

Perhaps in the future Robot will listen to its core devoted players if it makes it to an OMD4 and isn't defunct by then. I am highly disappointed in the game so far but there is hope that these issues will get fixed.

TLDR; if you want to know if you should buy this game ask yourself these questions:

1. Will you have a friend to play with most of the time?
2. Are you ok with not being the top of the leaderboard even if you deserve to be?
3. Can you be patient and return after expacs and updates?
4. Can you not compare this to OMD2?

If you answered yes to these the buy the game, if not revisit in 6 months and it may be worth it then.

PS. I will change this to recommend once the game state changes for the better, right now I'm 45/100 scoring it with the potential to reach the 80's or 90's with some fixes.
