One of the most addictive games I have ever played, and I have been playing games for 35 years. A masterpiece.

Good fun little game, would take approximately 12 hours to complete all the levels, but probably 30 hours to 100% complete (all stars, timetrials, hidden packages). Difficulty varies wildly from start to end, some of the levels with Springs are much, much more difficult than the others. SFX are cool, music is either okay or astonishingly frustrating/annoying. Graphics are a bit hit and miss, but the aesthetic is quite pleasing, very similar to Gang Beasts/Fall Guys in style. Level design is overall very good, a few levels are a letdown. Controls are easy, and the way it introduces new concepts such as the cubes/switching/throwing etc. is good.

Haven't touched the single-player side of it yet, and most likely wont, the core of this game is being able to play multiplayer on 2 controllers, 1 TV.

Overall I would recommend the game as a couch-co-op, its a lot of fun and quite challenging, Definitely worth £10-£15 but I must say I got it with a sale coupon for £3.50.

Quite simply one of the greatest games ever made. The only bad thing I can say about it is that you can only get that "first-playthrough experience" once.

Absolutely fantastic game. Decided to play it through again as its reached its 25th Anniversary this year and its every bit as enjoyable now as it was then. If you play it to enjoy and not speedrun, so looking for all the specials etc you will easily get 20 hours out of the campaign, and for £5 thats an absolute steal.

If you can pick this up for £20 or less I would say its worth it. Its a good game, its very short (we attempted to find all the secrets/collectables etc and explored everywhere we could and completed the game in just over 10 hours.) The first 4 segments of the game are great, but the final 2 segments are poor. The characters are cool, the weapons are good but its basically a mash of RE4 and RE7 and it isnt as good as either of them.

I wish it was possible to leave neutral reviews on Steam, because you cant really outright recommend or not recommend this game as it is very, VERY subjective on whether you will enjoy it or not. The game has a lot of good aspects to it, but it also has many negatives. I do want to point out before we go any further that objectively this game is NOT a 10/10 - it just isn't. People giving it 10/10 is fine if they are massive FromSoft fans and love Mech Games, but the game itself really is not THAT good. Its a new game so its scoring high I guess, but after 20 hours of playtime its unrealistic - lets break it down.

Gameplay - Ultimately, its big robots blowing ♥♥♥♥ up with Dark-Souls bosses strapped onto it. The vast majority of the missions are essentially the same - go to this place, interact with this thing, kill this guy, go to this place, oh look a boss has turned up, kill him, well done. This is fine for the first 15 or so missions, where you really do only have 1 mission that is notably different to anything else (STRIDER if anyones wondering, its not really a spoiler since its the 3rd mission). However, after this point it then feels like more of a chore than an actually interesting experience, its just a load of filler before the inevitible boss to be honest, and the enemies are pretty damn limited, infact I think there is only around 8 types of enemies I have encountered so far (non-boss) and all but 1 of them are very easily beaten. The Arenas are laughably easy, I havent died a single time yet and im up to rank B.

Plotwise, Its pretty obvious whats going to happen, the dialogue pretty much gives it away very early on.

In terms of missions briefings, which make up the plot - basically its just "this faction wants you to do this" then "this faction is upset because you did this for the other faction" and it doesn't actually matter whatsoever, its just kinda mindless banter. If you are expecting some sort of Dark-Souls esque complex plot and huge universe, it ain't here. Also the voice acting is pretty shoddy, and the dialogue is quite frankly piss poor.

The music is pretty lacking, not in quality but in variety and quantity, there are 3 main themes and they are used for 80% of the game. The sound effects etc. however are absolutely top notch.

Graphically its pretty good, some things look great, some things not so much, this is on high graphics settings. Due to the environment, pretty much everything is grey, white, brown or black, which is great because it allows the lazers, swords, rockets etc to really stand out and look fantastic when offset against it, plus your mech really pops out of the screen. Interestingly though the explosions look kinda poor, and for a game where 90% of it is blowing ♥♥♥♥ up, this is an obvious flaw.

I have seen a lot of people complain about the difficulty of the game. If you have played and completed Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring, this is substantially easier than both of those games. If you have not played any FromSoft games or do not like these kinda games, you will absolutely get destroyed over and over and over again, and you will probably hate it, and im talking from the first mission (so before you even get your own mech).

Conclusion:
Do you like blowing ♥♥♥♥ up in giant robots? Can you deal with Dark Souls style bosses? Do you like customisation in games (making logos and painting stuff)? Is being forced to play in a way you dont want to a fun challenge for you? - If the answer is "Yes" to all then you will like this game.

Pros:
+ Graphics are pretty cool.
+ Bosses (on the most part) are good.
+ Its is very fun to play, I mean you are a robot blowing stuff up come on.
+ Controls are very good considering how fast paced it is.
+ Quite a lot of content for the money.

Cons:
- Music is poor compared to FromSofts usual standards.
- The game really is not balanced for ♥♥♥♥, there are like 4 weapons that absolutely outclass everything else, therefore some stuff is completely useless.
- Overcomplex substats, there are around 50 stats in the game, you will only ever look or care about 6 of them.
- Repetative, as mentioned in the above paragraph the game is extremely repetative.
- The UI and menus are not very well designed, sometimes there are important things happening on the screen that are not obvious, because there is quite simply too much to look at. The menus are frustrating to use and for some reason miss really basic features (like why the hell does it forget your most recent sort option everytime you change gear slot?!)

This is quite a difficult review to write, because this is the kinda game that has a LOT going for it but what it gets wrong, it gets very very wrong. The main thing that stands out is stability - you need an absolute beast of a PC to run this smoothly on decent graphics, otherwise your pretty much guaranteed to have to run it on low or medium, and the upscaling options not only are incredibly confusing, but absolutely cripple performance regardless of what you choose. Combat is actually very fun, and I like how it was designed, unfortunately by the time you get around 20 hours into the game you already have the best possible spells and you will never change them, even the 10 or so you unlock after this point you will never use them.

The biggest problem with this game, is its got so, so much bloat. You can see the developers wanted to absolutely RAM the game full of content - and they have done this, absolutely, but its just the same stuff over and over again to basically no gain. There are only 3 enemy types, spread over like 30 different skins, but asides from 2 boss enemies you meet during the main questline there is absolutely no variation, its just rinse and repeat. The gearing system is ridiculous. The Beasts system you dont unlock until like 75% of the way through the game and it just serves as an annoying requirement for later missions, the room of requirement (think The Sims) is pretty cool if your into that kinda thing, and I like that you can grow and brew your own materials. The tools (plants/potions are useless, you will never use them.)

Overall the first 10-15 hours of this game are great, but it becomes very stale, very quickly. You end up not giving a crap about any of the characters, mainly because they just come across as annoying or irrelevant. The content is insanely repetitive. The difficulty, regardless of the actual difficulty you choose, is either incredibly easy, or mind-bogglingly difficult, there is no middle point.

Its a good game, it is, but it is not polished at all, and I cant recommend it, if you can pick it up for £20 then its worth it, for £50 its unfortunately a let-down.

Anmeldelse for emne med tidlig adgang
Everything in this game is designed to piss you off, literally everything. The music is infuriating, the physics are infuriating, the fact that you can miss save planks is infuriating, the fact that you can kick the save planks off into the water is infuriating, the fact that they only give you 1 save, and when you get to the next one it overwrites it is infuriating, in first person mode you either get a really poorly rendered helmet blocking your view or the silly red feather thing blocking your view is infuriating, the fact that you launch the chickens slightly to your right and not the middle of the screen where your aiming is incredibly infuriating, your own chickens can (and will) kill you and thats infuriating, the fact that the clock counts both the 00 second and the 60 second meaning that every minute is 61 seconds is infuriating, the fact that regardless of your number of deaths the number is always suffixed with "th" is infuriating, everything is infuriating. Everything. Its like the child of fall guys and dark souls.

Its absolutely brilliant, buy it.

A true classic. Some would say one of the best games ever. Sure, the controls are a bit difficult to get used to (they are designed this way otherwise the game would be wayyyy to easy) and the last boss is a letdown but otherwise its hard to knock how good this really is.

A quick note regarding the mine cart and salazar statue RTE bugs - they are still in the game unfortunately and I doubt will ever be patched with the upcoming RE4 Remake this year, you can get round them however by changing the graphics settings back to 30fps for this section of the game.
