Ugh.. it's still in early access.. there are still LOTS of things that need to be addressed. Too many to mention. So far so good but the progress for the dev team is slow. Slower than you would expect. Still it is "playable" .

Sadly they decided it was not in early access. But it still plays like it. So many things to still fix and they keep adding things that don't do anything or give any appreciable differance. It's still 6.5. Buggy as hell. Unresponsive and rushed out. This could have been great. But still needs a ton of finishing work. I will change this review to negative if it continues as is. Right now it's just barely 65% complete. Especially in the area of the tactical battles.

time has gone on and it seems like it's still struggling with balance. It doesn't seem to be something that is being addressed. People were complaining that it was too easy so they made the baseline so that the AI could overcome it's shortcomings. I get that. And instead of balancing they have spent all their time on dlc which i am looking forward to. But the campaign still needs balancing. A lot

Update.. 3 years later... it's even worse than it was at launch. Save Your money.. but most importantly your time and sanity trying to make sense of what should and could have been an enjoyable American Civil War Historically accurate to at least some degree, game. NONE of the stats really matter in this game. They look cool but in all reality have very little importance. The AI was garbage and instead of trying to make it better, it has been just super over powered so that it can .. over power you with better recruitment, better weapons stats(even if it says they aren't) , the ability to teleport to anywhere in america magically and basically just waste time for you. There is no historical accuracy to the way anything plays out. And the DLC which was just released.. is another unfinished, unplaytested, never to be fixed because it uses the atrocious game engine plus some pretty lewd and useless stats on top of the stats that really do nothing in the first place. It's a classic piece of smoke and mirrors. And super disappointing. The Devs take no notice of the forums in steam seemingly and player input. If they do notice, they simply ignore it. It truly is a sad waste of time with a very over complicated smoke screen.
The lemon and whiskey campaign has been improved. It's more fun. But there is so much more to be fixed on all levels. I am a history buff so I can overlook some things. Though i still find myself having a melt down over the way the command works often. There is still so much to fix and evolve. But mostly fix. But yes you can have more fun now. So yes it is getting better. And the way food is for Your character needs to be completely reworked. Obesity should not be the norm. It's almost impossible to keep from gaining weight to a point where You get negative effects.
