A honest translation of the table-top boardgame to computer game.
But if you're looking for a stratergy game of the MechWarrior series this isn't it, the MechCommander series would be probably more what you are looking for.

Pros:
- Very good graphics.
- Reasonably good background story.

Cons:
- The game does tend to be resource hungry, so if you are playing for extended periods (or reload frequently for Max-Min play style) you will notice a dramatic slowdown and a blow out in load times between battles.

Post Update 1.80 (Heavy Metal)
Pros:
- As Above,
- It's nice to see 2 Classic mechs from the original Technical Readouts re-introduced (although I am somewhat disappointed with the visual re-design, but with the legal history over the matter, it can't be helped).
- Modding support (to a degree) finally added.

Cons:
- As above.
- While most minor bugs and issues have been fixed, the game is still resource hungry for the player of the long strategic game.

An abandoned game that is too confused about its self-identity to know what it wants to be.
Trying too hard to be a MoBA to be a RTS in the vein of the DoW series.
Clinging too much to DoW historic game play to be a proper MoBA

Nice to see that the classics of RTS still are around and showing these young 'whipper-snappers' what real RTS was like in the day, Just kidding.

But it is nice to see that CnC3 has aged well, and is still fun to play.

Open Beta Review:

Please note: I am biased in this review as I'm a hard-core GW tabletop gamer, a lot of GW games have failed to hit the mark for good conversions to computer game.

This quite a good simulation/conversion of the BFG tabletop game to a RTS format, while staying true to feel and atmoshpere of the original tabletop game.

Good graphics.

Most in game "on screen controls" are pretty self explanatory, but without a manual or tutorial system, some of the more advanced abilities or tactics remain either unknown to the player or unusable (like formations for escort class ships).

Being still in Open Beta, there are still some bugs and not everything has been polished to final release standard yet, but the developers are listening to the players and implementing fixes.

Single player campaign looks interesting, but no being able to save games at the moment mean progression isn't saved to resumed later, a bit annoying, but makes me want the official release date all the more.

Solo Skirmish and Multiplayer are reasonable good, although there is an issue with Multiplayer mismatching players at the moment (see "Known Issues" post in steam forum). still the occasional crash to desktop but these are become less and less common now.

Overall, for an open beta, the game still needs polish before official release, but its well on it way to hitting all the marks for a very good quality release.

Release Review:
Most of what I posted in my Beta review still apply to the the Release version, matchmaking for multiplayer issues have been somewhat fixed but are still far from perfect, some of the dlc fleets seem kind of overpowered but that mostly levels out as you level up your fleets (although Tau dlc fleet still need some re-balancing in my opinion).

Majority of bug and crash issue have been fixed, I haven't had a crash months.

Longer load screen then for most other games, but if you are a tabletop gamer a 20 to 30 second load screen is nothing compared to hours it used to take to play the tabletop versions of 40k, Epic, Necromunda, and BGF.

Lack of a manual or an accurate fleet glossary is somewhat annoying for the veteran 40k/BFG wargamer. Favours have no tooltip details until after you purchase them, and that a big waste of renown if its not the one you thought it was.

Overall a nice game, 7/10.

A nicely balance and presented addition to the Homeworld series. Hoping to an additional campaign in the DLC in the future (hopefully from the Gaalians viewpoint of events leading up to the first campaign).

Point of Interest:
* as others have said in their reviews, the pace of gameplay is slower than other RTS game, but this adds to the essence of the game and bring the feel of carrier group warfare to the great expanses of the Deserts of Kharak

Pros:
+ very nice graphics
+ well crafted single player campaign and storyline
+ good mix of units, which are well balanced movement and attack strengths for unit role (no one type of unit will rule the battlefield)

Cons:
- Campaign AI does need a little bit of tweeking (completed very first play through of the game on Medium difficulty without losing a single battle or feeling over-taxed until the last half of the final mission)

This game is the "Mobile App' version of what a Supreme Cammander game should be.

when compared to ither previous Supreme command titles:
AI dumbed down to either hit you at range or just zerg you with cheap low powered units, it uses no other strategies.
Maps sizes come in only two sizes: small or tiny.
Number of unit type has been slashed to a third of those previously available.
It really just a race to see who can build the Experimental Unit first, cause once you have that use can just stroll into the enemy base and destory it at you're leisure.

Completed all campaigns within a week of release and un-intalled the game within two weeks of release and haven't played it since.

Epic disappointment from a lover of the previous titles in this series.
