***WORKS ON WINDOWS 10 AND EVERY SYSTEM I'VE EVER TRIED. Anyone with issues is an odd case that can be resolved. The menu is more-or-less hardcoded to 640x480 or thereabout, but all other typical resolutions and widescreen works perfectly in gameplay. Never had a crash or any hiccup***

Fantastic tactical shooter that has no direct competitor. Among my top 5 favorite titles and definitely my favorite shooter. A great streamlined realistic shooter that is very easy to hop into without much commitment, yet you can find yourself playing for hours on end. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful and the gunplay, sound design, and tension is incredible. Animations (especially death animations) are still very pleasing and overall this game holds up phenomenally.

Enemy AI is among the most fun there is to fight against and they will consistently impress you and leave you wanting to fight more. How they take cover, move onto your position and use grenades is just mind blowing for a 2001 title and is STILL leagues above so many games that came long after. HOWEVER the friendly AI leaves much to be desired if they are doing anything other than being an immobile sentry. Best to play them like chess pieces as you swap between your fireteams with the 1,2,3 keys. This isn't a huge deal and coop is an absolute blast.



***There is still an active community and a large variety of ways to play the game. HIGHLY recommended.

Server list @ http://5.45.107.182/ - Evenings and Weekends (American time generally. A lot of players are from South America) are usually active. Can get some good games going. Coop and PVP. (Wish they would purchase a domain name)
Netcode is good and latency issues are rarely ever a problem. You have to take the ips listed on this site and manually enter them into the Internet portion of the server browser. If it is not displaying after entering the ip, make sure the port number is correctly set.

You will want to have the Desert Siege and Island Thunder expansions as well (Check the pinned messages in the "general" Discord chat section ^_^)

Servers often run the SkypeGhost mod which is still the Vanilla game but adds various missions and maps mainly. Access the download for this by navigating to the "mod-downloads" section of the Discord. You will find other premier mods here as well. I prefer playing Vanilla or Vanilla w/SkypeGhost normally.

Everyone talks about the Heroes Unleashed mod and while it is an awesome achievement, I find it changes the feel of the game too much. You may like it though.

***There is also a built in mission creator and general game tweaking tool included with the game files called IGOR. You can do everything short of creating new maps with this tool. Want to make a defense point and hold off against waves of Russian tanks, Ethiopian warlords and South American drug cartels as your immediate squad is reinforced by additional friendly AI in a ridiculous firefight? Sure. Want to make entirely new Multiplayer modes to play with friends? Go for it. Want to make your M9 shoot like a beltfed machine gun? Ok?

OVERALL this is a game that, while it has some issues (a little clunky with a few minor bugs), is an unparalleled tactical shooter with an impeccable atmosphere and timeless gameplay.
