With 2.4k hours under my belt I can say without a doubt RUST is one of, if not my favourite game of all time.
Not many games have the replayability of rust. Because the game is so diverse and well supported, there are several ways to play the game. There are several methods of progression and massive community for modded game play.

That being said, RUST does have a learning curve. Learning the game takes a little while and it is sometimes difficult due to the PVP nature of the game. Lucky there are modded and community servers, with low/no population or even fully modded PVE servers you can learn on without getting killed every 2 minutes.

Vanilla gameplay (official) is often very toxic, fast paced, and challenging. Players are very aggressive and normally Kill on sight. Progression is slow and there is a LOT of grinding. We are talking 10 - 20 hours of grinding to reach top tier. For these reasons teams are very common, drastically cutting grind time and dominating PVP. Solo play in official rust is considered hard to impossible for some players. I personally love solo official rust, but I've only survived a wipe a handfull of times Solo Official.

Modded Gameplay is where it's at for me. Many of the server have 2x 3x 5x Loot. And also speed up recyclers and crafting so you don't spend your time waiting for things like you do in official rust. The Grind can become a lot easier and less time consuming. You can find PVE servers so you can practice your builds, or learn how to play the game without getting killed by every person that see you. With so many different plugins and modifications the game play can change dramatically. If you ever find yourself getting board of rust vanilla gameplay, try out a few modded servers! They will open up an entirely new game for you.

Rust is one of those very rare games that grabs you and pulls you in to it. I started off not knowing what to do, getting killed every 2 mins and not understanding what's happening, to rocking official Solo, giving away bases and raiding clans.
I aslo started 2 servers of my own, and started making custom maps for the game. If you haven't played rust yet, there is an entire world waiting here for you!
