Andromeda takes place 600 years after the original Mass Effect trilogy. The game is centered around the Andromeda Initiative, a project to colonize the Andromeda galaxy and turn it into a new home for humans and the other residents of the Milky Way. You play as either Sara or Scott Ryder who after several disasters later, find themselves thrust into the leadership role of Pathfinder and placed in command of a ship, the Tempest. After the proper introduction of Kett Archon as the antagonist the game's plot gains momentum and builds in scale and excitement.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a great looking game for the most part, environments are absolutely stunning and feel suitably alien. Every planet is basically an open world and you’ll find yourself admiring how good everything looks. Planets are no longer barren wastelands but rather intricate open worlds filled to the brim with interesting alien wildlife, natural formations, and side activities. Exploration is for the most part very rewarding in Mass Effect Andromeda and the introduction of an terrain vehicle makes it that much more interesting. Nomad vehicle is responsive and easy to control, it can also be improved with a variety of upgrades in order to turn it into the ultimate exploration vehicle.

Andromeda offers the best combat system out of any Mass Effect game to date, the addition of jetpacks make the combat feel more dynamic as you hover and zip across the battlefield. There’s also a lot more weapon variety as well as a number of new powers to play around with. Crafting system has a number of problems main problem actually comes from the poorly designed menus, navigating Mass Effect: Andromeda's menus is an exercise in patience. Crafting is highly complex and even enjoyable once you learn how to make good use of it. You can craft a large variety of weapons, armor and other useful items and upgrade many of them in order to gain powerful bonuses.

Arguably the highlight of every Mass Effect game are companions, Mass Effect: Andromeda adds six new team members to the franchise. The companion characters have their own abilities but you don’t really have much control over what your teammates do in battle, or the weapons or equipment they take with them. You can decide how to level them and what powers they’ll have available. This is a bit of a letdown, as combining different abilities between characters has been a big part of the fun in previous games.

Missions are structured to be both repetitive and predictable, and they feel especially dated if you’ve played other modern large-scale role-playing games. This repetition extends to everything from the dungeons to the puzzles. The alien vaults on each planet are nearly identical in terms of both layout and presentation.

Mass Effect Andromeda is pretty decent addition to the series.
