I am thoroughly getting into this game. Still bugs and lags and stuff ... hope that all gets fixed eventually. UPDATE: Many bugs fixed with a graphics card update that came out pretty quickly. I have fully gotten into this great game.

Missions seem much more variable than prior examples ... good thought went into crafting all of these. UPDATE: Highly variable ... I'm not feeling like I'm doing the same thing over and over. And some of these missions are simply fantastic. Well done, unique and just darn fun.

There's so much more room for me to improve ... oh so much room. And also, for the game to improve and fine tune. Did I mention the bugs ... social interactions almost always seem to start with a one minute lag...but then are good. UPDATE: I've improve much ... as one does when leveling up. There's still that lag at the beginning of most conversations.

I've read, and like, that this game was intentionally built with some intent to make it a LONG playing game. I'm into that. I did at least 600 to 800 hours of Skyrim. UPDATE: I think I'm at about 300 hours. I'm avoiding Unity and NG+ to just keep finishing up the so many things I still have to do and want to do.

I have not yet tried mods, but intend to. They so often make life nicer and sweeter. Just like better inventory, smooth transition options. I lean toward difficulty settings as only offered in the actual game. UPDATE: Still playing vanilla.

There is a certain presentation to this game that gets you out of your head and into a bit of alternate reality. It has distracted me from IRL, even while in IRL, I'm still pondering my journeys ... and challenges ... quite a few I'm not ready for ... but I know I'll get there.

Spaceflight is well done. Space flight within a system is quite awesome ... planet to planet ... planet to moon ... moon to moon ... moon to planet ... you just do it, and you get accurate visuals of destination and close moon(s) and/or planet.

Thank you for a very cool game. I'm in this with you for a long while.

UPDATE: To other gamers ... get this game. If you're on the fence, get this game! Be ready to commit some time, at your own pace. I spent 2 or 3 weeks mostly just jumping from system to system and planet to planet, scanning from orbit and moving on. The foundation is strong and there's wild potential for more goodness and DLC.

A work of art and excellent gaming. Nicely executed. Good eye candy, visuals and lighting. Excellent programming.

Watching and listening to your first rainfall is so very pleasing.

It feels like it's all almost here already, and yet still has so much room left to grow into itself. I know I'll be spending multiple repeat play throughs of many, many hours each for several years to come.

UPDATE 11/27/2024: On at least my third playthrough. First since full release. They've made it nothing but better. Again, I'll be replaying this for several years to come.

Beautiful and delightful. So nicely crafted and created. I'll be hoping for sequels and play them all.

This version of Carrier Command has a 3% improvement in technical management and command bridge presentation, yet even that is a little awkward. In every other aspect it is sad and downright ugly in comparison to 'Carrier Command: Gaea Mission' from over a freakin' decade ago. I don't blame Steam, but I've asked for a refund. This particular developer gets major MINUS REP. I see the effort put into it, but you missed more than half.

2022-01-06 Review Update - game completed
Absolutely brilliant. 755.6 hours to reach full 100%, and including all the DLC until now.

If you don't use mods, there's a youtube vid for "best truck at level 2" that points you to an Azov. Best non-mod truck in my overall try outs.

Mods are very, very cool. The game integration with mod.io is the among the best and easiest I've ever seen.

The truck that made the game for me ... it doesn't have enough subscriptions ... but I think it is the very best, without any doubt in my mind, the very best, the most brute and beast of a truck ...

Bart's "Goliath" ZiKZ 605R

Upgrade all the things to the best-est. Maybe almost too easy, but I still feel I have to think and drive every foot. Without the frustration of being completely stuck in the mud ... because sometimes I still have to get a second Goliath to pull me through ... a couple or three to coordinate loading and trucking. And I really got into using two at a time, pulling one, as an alternative to one truck with a big trailer (can always detach and drive one by one through a sticky spot, and can recover each when done rather than driving the freakin' trailer back to a trailer store).

I like waypoints. I use waypoints. Mudrunner had a limit to the waypoints, Snowrunner doesn't. But by God, try to avoid using them where you are able. Whenever I start to feel like I am getting to know a map pretty well, I try to just go by what I know, not the waypoints. But I don't do it enough ... my stoned @ss needs those waypoints. But it's brilliant when I can just drive without them. Strange how much it makes a difference in the experience, but it does.

755.6 hours. That's among my top four, and I'm old as heck. Skyrim was about that. One or two others that I can't think of at this moment.

Prior review when I was a good way through the game:

What an awesome game. I love going from not knowing where I am and needing to check the map every two minutes, to the point where I've been over the same road dozens of times. The mod connectivity is great, and some of the mods are downright fantastic. I highly recommend the Goliath truck ... it's probably what made the difference for me between the game being a very hard slog to a huge enjoyment. I think I have seven of them right now. Not that I really need all seven, two or three would probably do me just fine. The expansions are no joke ... more than double the game play. If this is your kind of pace, don't miss it.

One play through, single player only, 332 hours. I loved this game! Everything I want from an open world, without that repetitive grind feel. Well crafted with so much attention paid to little details. The pace of a horse on the trail, weather with storms (lightning, rain, snow, dust, wind...) coming in across the horizon then fully enveloping you, terrain vast enough to feel huge yet traveled enough you get to know areas, life of all kinds persistently occurring everywhere, cinematic mode where you still have some control, music soundtrack (that I'd actually like to buy) and so much more.

I could make it take longer and milk more out of it (didn't 100% multiple little things), but instead I am planning on getting distracted for a little while and then coming back for a full replay.

If you like open world, appreciate being totally taken by the atmosphere of a game, and taking your time to enjoy the details, get this! (If you're the crash through finish the missions in 40 hours kind of player, just why?
Not impressed by such line of reasoning. But you would be wasting your money, it's like an iceberg, that's just the tip.)

tl; dr Buy it! And read.

Superb! What an incredible adventure, finely crafted, beautiful, well done game. Among my last decade I'd rate this in the top five and, all time (30+ years of heavy gaming experience), this is in my top ten ever.

This is a nice, relaxing and enjoyable game. Need a break from shooting warships? Kick back on your raft, collect some stuff, build a little cabin.

Get this game! The original was awesome. This one is simply multi-fantastic. Very well done, beautifully crafted and finely honed. I think this game also displays some of the best long playing growth throughout the game that I've ever seen (and boys and girls, I've been playing these games for a very long time). You think you've seen the full scope, and then it opens up wider ... and it does this again and again. This is my fave game-of-the-year or longer.
