It's... mid?

It's a decent ARPG rogue-lite that focuses on instanced based runs and trinkets, buffs that only last for your current run. There is a lot of focus on these trinkets within each run and very little focus on equipment. Such a hard focus on instance-limited trinkets means that ultimately you're finding the same 30-50 trinkets all the time which doesn't have much variety. The vast majority of the trinkets don't add a material difference to gameplay - just add damage, resistance, or something that is not readily visible.

Equipment is rare. In my 20+ hours of play I never found a unique item. Just "Adjective Noun of the Noun" style equipment.

What made games like diablo 2 fun is the huge variety in equipment and how that changed your gameplay. Here there isn't much equipment to find. Instead it's acquiring stars (aka achievements) within game which become harder and harder to get and building out your guild (different characters which buff each other). Once you beat the game once you've beaten it 100 times. The huge lack of equipment and high focus on trinkets means that ultimately each run feels lackluster.

If you progress through each map in the game from beginning to end without doing many of the skips the game lets you do, it will take you about 2 hours to do a run. There is no saving within a run. You keep going until you die or quit. The lack of a save option isn't very family-friendly imo.

It's a good game, but it's probably better with friends.
